Here's a more up-to-date report (I'm staying at the Town Lodge right now, in a jacuzzi suite) :
It's fantastic value for money. The suite is very well equipped and decorated. All the standard features of a five-star room (really big and comfortable bed, perfect climate control, state-of-the-art TV/DVD system in the jacuzzi room as well as the bedroom, mini-bar, in-room safe, etc.), plus a jacuzzi with room for two or three people. All of the hotel staff- owner/manager, front-desk, maids and tuk-tuk driver, do everything possible to be helpful. The suite was fresh and spotlessly clean. The location at the end of Soi 18 was zero problem. The tuk-tuk was perfect during the day and at night I only needed to walk a few minutes before a cab came by (there's a lot of cab traffic to and from the Rembrandt Hotel also on Soi 18). In any case, it's not a huge walk, I did it a few times from the Asoke station just to help get in my 10,000 steps.
Also, because it's a smaller hotel and so guest-friendly, the TGs I was with really liked it. They felt very much "at home" without any ugly farang matrons to give them mean looks. The jacuzzi was a big plus for them.
I saw a standard room as well. It's simpler and smaller, of course, but has everything that is needed at an exceptionally reasonable price.
I usually stay in places like the Landmark, Banyan Tree or Emporium Suites because my company pays the bill and sometimes I need the facilities offered by a big hotel that caters to business travellers. But for the fun side of BKK, the Town Lodge is in fact a better choice.

I stayed at the Town Lodge for the last week and I can nothing but concur with all the praise this place has been getting.
At 1400THB a night the Superior room is a steal. It is stylishly decorated with eye-pleasing colors, tasteful ornaments and functional furniture. It has a stocked mini-bar, a room safe and a luscious, lavish bed with the most fluffy pillows on this side of the equator. When I first entered the room I was amazed by the overall quality of it for that price. Friends of mine stayed at the Royal President for 2.300/night and my superior room at the Town Lodge was nicer.
As far as price/quality goes, I was especially blown away by the service at the Town Lodge. Some 5 star hotels I stayed in don’t offer this kind of service.
A concise list of the most memorable ones:
- The first thing I noticed in the well-stocked mini bar was the presence of Alka Seltzers, next to two frosted glasses. And thank god for the those sizzlers because every morning, after a whole night of potent refreshments at Glow, my stomach begs for a couple.
It is this kind of attention to detail that poignantly illustrates the kind of hotel this is: personal attention to personal needs.
- When you get your laundry done in the hotel, the freshly smelling laundry gets neatly laid out on the bed and shirts gets placed in a hangar in the closet. None of that plastic wrapping shit.
- As mentioned before, this place has almost instant and immaculate house keeping – when you leave at 1600 after an afternoon pop for some chow and you come back to dress up for the night, your room will be immaculate. And they don’t just make the bed, hang new towels and clean the shower. When your clothes are scattered all over the place (like mine always are), they will fold them up and place them in the closet.
- At about 1900 hours two girls come and turn your bed sheet and put a little “good-night” cookie-box on the pillow. That’s about as close to your mother tucking you in you are gonna get.
- For 100THB you can use the internet in the lobby for the length of your stay. The BTF page seems to have some issues though. Every time I tried to login, somebody else was still logged in and I was unable to log him out.
- The bathroom is a joy. Besides the normal amenities (hot water shower with massage shower head, brand new sink, toilet) it has 2 filled dispensers with shampoo and soap. On the glass shelves next to the shower, there are also 2 bottles of bath foam (apple and raspberry). The babes love that stuff. Soak in a steaming tub and wash your TG with these bubbly things and they will become dough in your hands (not to mention an obedient slave for the night.)
- On my last night, due to a late flight, I checked out at 8pm without extra cost.
- When you mention that you are a BTF member, you get a 5day/2nights free deal. Which means that a superior room comes at about 1000THB a night.
- A bit weird is the extremely low toilet seat. I once heard it actually stimulates better bowel movement, but they are very close to squatting. I did not check the toilets in other rooms, so this might have been an exception, but I can imagine it might a bit awkward for a tall person.
Some minor disturbances:
- On two occasions the manager type was loudly scolding (once of the phone, once in person) at some Thai people with a thick German/Austrian accent – in the MIDDLE OF THE LOBBY, while guests where walking in and out. This is something you just not do. I can understand that doing business with Thai people can be frustrating, but one should take care of it in a civilized manner, away from your clientele.
- Town Lodge has no room service. Being Bangkok, there is always food close by, but its always nice to order some chow at 4 in the morning while getting ready for another round.
I have to admit that it is with a certain degree of reluctance that I post this FR. I hope it wont backfire in the same way as my initial Sazanka FR did, in that I now have to book a day in advance to get my favorite girl, while before Sazanka got all the publicity on this board, I could just walk in.
Then again, Town Lodge (and Sazanka) really deserve all the business they can get, as they deliver impeccable quality.

had the same problem with the Computer when trying to log into BTF.....always had Dr Loves user name and password there.
Have stayed there 3 times and only once had I a complaint. About 4am had some clowns laughing right outside my door went on for about 15 minutes and I stuck my head out and just said politely.."is there any chance of you all shutting up" they where only youngns and replied yes...which I again politely said "well f***ing do so then". They took off like greyhounds and Iwent back to sleep. Was all good.
