It is not a good idea to paste a particular behavior to a certain race or nationality. The beauty of this forum is that we dont usually discuss races or nationality issues here !!! Crop till drop !!

Dear Wing, this is more a general reply on Hotel Voltages/plugs etc in Bangkok. Most have the standard Thai Plug (2 round pins) and or one that excepts the US 2 flat pins. Few have the Uk (Sing/Hong Kong/Malaysia) type with the large rectagular pins. Voltage is 220/230 at 50Hz. You can usually borrow an adaptor from the Hotel for most types from Hotel and they are easy to buy and quiet cheap (maybe some of the cheaper ones are not so safe!). Oz

Oz is spot on. "Flat pins" may also be called "blades" on some packaging of electrical supplies. Some, but not many Thai hotels' outlets have pin/blade slots -- picture the two combined and you've got it. Most blade-capable outlets are not polarized in the way that modern US outlets are, i.e. one slot larger than the other. A third pin for grounding (earthing) is pretty rare.
