I stayed at the Manhattan last week in April. No problem with guests. I had booked a double. They even gave me two breakfast vouchers for each day at checkin. They did check that I had a double every time I brought a guest.

Friend and myself stayed there last march, he was on the construction side, and hated it, I was on the other side, and couldn't hear it at all. Room #502 was quiet.

Stayed there in May/04.
As stated, construction side was intolerable. I had them move me to the non-construction side, where it was unnoticeable.

No problem with construction noise and I was staying facing it. I guess I was just lucky. I could imagine when they were pounding those huge iron supports into the ground the noise was probably unberable.

I booked a room at Manhatten hotel through precisionreservation.com.
Initially I booked a single room, but I realized that I had to pay a joiner fee and just sent them an email to change for a double for two persons.
Now they asked me to send them the name of the second person. Is this a common practice? Did anybody had the same experience?
I will arrive alone and I am thinking of sending them a name of a TG I once new.

Stayed at the Manhattan two weeks ago for 1 night. The construction is still in full effect and it looks like it will be going on for quite a while. In my opinion, this place is terribly overated. The lobby was nice but the rooms felt scumy and dirty to me. The doorman kept harrassing me to get me something after I said no a million times. Although, the level of dissapointment I felt was not even close to what I experienced at the Nana Hotel sh*t hole. These are just my opinions of course, check it out if you want.

I stayed at the Manhattan. The rooms were basic, but the view of the city was good. The buffet breakfast there is very good. I was never bothered by the doorman or anyone. The construction is a problem. I booked mine through Passionasia, got a double, and they had shirts as a gift when I got to the hotel. They didn't require a second name either.
