No doubt the hotel nets more when a guest books directly with it, and wants to encourage this practice. However, unless the hotel publicises this policy it is unlikely to result in any additional direct bookings.

Good news for all you guys. Just heard from the hotel. They have stopped charging joiners fee, even for bookings made through an agency. So no confusion any more.

In March 2012 I booked through Wotif (excellente rate).
Never paid a fee for 1 joiner...
Hefty fee was asked for 2 joiners...

If you do get soaked for a joiner fee for the second girl (not just at this place, but anywhere), at LEAST insist that for your fee they give you another towel, haha! Seriously, I've done this...if you're going to pay, at least each of the three of you should get your own towel...
Normally, at the places where I stay, I'm never asked for a second girl joiner fee, even though my regular MO is two girls...and the three of us have to make do with two towels, haha...a small price to pay I guess!
