I dont think it is falling apart I stopped by there to drop some shirts off at the cleaners and it looked the same.
Lots of Arabs dominate the place now if that matters to you. I do not know how well the rooms are kept up these days, but the staff when I was there a few years ago did an very good job.
You can always check out after a few days if you are uncomfortable. Plenty of places nearby.
