Will have to politely disagree. 
I've stayed at the Royal President in a suite in the main buidling and one of the studios in the building next door and have had stayed several times at the President Solitaire, and the PS is a cut or two above the RP in just about every respect.
Ditto.
I like both hotels, but PS is better. I'm not sure it's worth the extra bucks, though.
One little side note:
What I notice at both RP and PS is the lousy craftmanship in the building. It looks OK from distance, but if you look closer - it is obvious that they threw this together in no time... The finnish of the painting, tiles in the bathroom etc. is poor.
I had a discussion with a German building constructor on my flight home about this.
He said: "The asians are saying the are so effective. Yes, they can do it in less time, but the quality is poor. In Europe they would, well, get fired on the spot."

Just booked for New Year at Solitaire for "Platinium Suite" at Baht 6'400.--. Allways good price for value and never problem to make party all night long with many TG's. For me one of the best place...

Goiania,, I have stayed in the Platinum suite before and is nice and particularly enjoyed the spa.
Me thinks you have over paid badly,, asiarooms has Platinum suite at Baht 5338.
Enjoy your stay,,,,

That is TWICE what it was just about 16 months ago! It was a deal then, it is not a deal now. The service people, room service and the maids, are great. The people behind the desk in the lobby are near idiots.

Decided to check out President Solitaire for a short visit to see if it could replace my regular hotel which for a long time has been Westin.
Took the Premium Suite that has an area of 50m2. Quite good enough. Also looked at the Solitaire Suite but I do not find that to be a necessity - unless you need an extra sofa area.
Nice service, even if reception is a bit different and not that effective if several people are checking in or out. My price was 3766 with taxes. And the free wifi internet which Westin charges a staggering 642 b for! Ridiculous in my book and one strong reason to look for another hangout.
There is a bit of walking from the hotel to Suk - but they have a free electric small car that takes you there. But is also reached by foot in 10 mins. So no big deal really.
Nice please and this is most likely where I will be found for at least the next few visits!
And of course it is totally GF. Recommended by me!

I stayed here a few times. always liked it. The rooms, be they platinum or solitare suite were great, but the cost is very high really. It has gone up afair bit since I first stayed in 2004.
The staff in reception are nice [other staff are nicer though] and service was good but I hate the lack of privacy born of the fact that it is so quite at reception. You feel as though everyone sees everything.
The pool is small but ok as is the fitness center. Overall a really good place except for the very high price. Breakfast is good.

PS It has been my wish to bring in a couple of girls with me but so far I have been with a tg when I stayed putting her name on the booking.
Worth noting that if you go straight up the stairs as if your going to the restaurant you can sneak them in without any scene or siging in drama's.

Theres not too much signing in drama anyway, the girls just hand over their ID cards to the guy standing by the lift. Never had any problem there bringing in a few girls at a time either.
Despite the increase in prices the PS is still probably my favourite hotel in BKK. I don't tend to use much in the way of hotel facilities and like to have a decent sized room so, for me, the PS is better than say the Westin or Marriott where the standard rooms are a lot smaller and the larger rooms a lot more expensive.
I'm trying out the Landmark next trip as I still haven't stayed there yet but if I'm not overly impressed I'll be straight back to the PS.

PS is my preferred choice now. West, if you like it there you will NOT be impressed by the Landmark which is vastly over-rated.
Worth consodering President Park (same chain) if you prefer to be a little further from the action (bottom of 22/24) - cheaper but has 4 pools, squash, tennis, gym, (even a climbing wall) etc etc. Good place for longer term stays
