which hotel?? town lodge has cameras in the corridors but NOT in the rooms.

The Manhattan is simply one of the best deals in town.Yes there is construction next door at the moment but even so it still beats the competition.As others have said it has plenty of amentiies,has a great location,the staff are friendly and the price is unbeatable.You need to pre book, not just because it is invariably full but the internet rate is about 700 baht less than the walk in rate.

The "secret" is to ask for a room on the other side.
I've stayed there four times now and booking through precision reservations for THB1100 a night incl b'fast. Good clean and large rooms. No problems with noise.
BTW The brochure rate is THB 2,000.

That secret won't work very well right now.
Not only is there the construction of the 25+ story building behind the Manhattan (work hours seem to be 7:30am to 6pm), but the brand new construction at the corner of Soi 15 and Sukhumvit. Right now they are digging the basement and pile driving the support structures. This work goes on 24-hours a day. Sometimes, late at night, Soi 15 is blocked off right at Sukhumvit so they can work on the utilities being installed under the street. I could hear the noise quite clearly at 3am, and I had a back room far from Soi 15.
Finally, some of the floors (floor 7 for sure), are having the rooms renovated. Lots and lots of noise as they bang, staple and who knows what during daylight hours.
I do think the Manhattan is a good deal for the money - assuming you pre-book on-line. I've also stayed there 4 times, including this month.
However, you will have to endure the noise.
