PJcopp, your friend must be nuts to leave 500 euro out of a safe. That is not safe, nowhere. Not very sporty to blame a hotel for that, claiming that the money can not have dissapeared on the street. Do you think that a pickpocket taking the money would put it back, because you think nobody would accept it? What would you like a hotel to do? Believe anyone claiming 500 euro has dissapeared and then expect the hotel just to give you that money? And if it is for emergency, who would accept 500 euro, as you said that nobody would accept it? I think you made your story up. I don't really like it because I really liked the hotel and they where extremely friendly. Think your story does not make sense and belongs more to the diffamation category.

booked at amari and confirmed instantly,

just stayed there last night...another hassle free experience...just a 5 minute walk from soi cowboy. the receptionist also told me that city lodge soi 9 is a bit cheaper than soi 19, but alos newly renovated.
will come back

Thanks mick for the tip and comments. Sure both City Lodage locations (soi 9 and 19) look very attractive. Now if we could only get them for the asiarooms.com or other pre paid internet booking rate (at 1400 baht incl breaky and taxes for two is a good deal but.. how to get it) ? Maybe if we book ahead we can get it, sure would be interested to hear those who did it and how much the cost was. Maybe time for me to change the Landmark for 1/3 or less the cost

Hi Mel,
Thanks for the site pointer, but the problem is, as you read the previous posts, you cannot make a reservation with City Lodge at those lower prices, except using the Amari site and paying more. I was asking if someone was able to get the rate with other than Amari's site.

the site mentioned has soi 19 at about 1,500 BHT and soi 9 at 1628.
But maybe I am miss-reading something.

Thanks to all who have given their thoughts on this hotel. I have been by it 'many' times because I stay often at the Swiss Grottino. But I like to change every now and then
