I do think you are under a false impression that you think you will get an executive room just because priceline classfies this hotel as 5 star. Priceline winning bid will get you a superior room. I know ... I did it in April for the 1st two nights I was in BKK. And I am a Starwood preferred member (and Westin belongs to Starwood) and it got me no where.

My impression is based on staying for 8 nights at the end of May thru June 1st in an executive room based on an accepted priceline bid. I am not a member of their frequent guest program. Maybe I lucked out.
I would have felt ripped off if they gave me an unrenovated superior room. I don't see how priceline/Westin can justify doing that. An unrenovated room would be just like the Grand Pacific, which was not a 5 star hotel. They'd have to argue the hotel I'm staying at is 5 star based on the lobby and the staff though the room is 3 star and I don't get the Westin signature "heavenly bed" which they advertise is in all their rooms or any other room improvements. Unrenovated rooms may have construction going on on the same floor as well.

I stand corrected! For when I was there in April/2003 the deluxe rooms and executive floor where under the renovation knife!. The superior room I got was a corner room which I really enjoyed.

Hey Guys!
The "priceline" auction site is good. I just got 3 days in JW marriot for my stay in July for a basic bid of USD 50 per day. But there is bit of gamble because you wouldn't know which hotel you are going to get. I guess I was lucky to pull in JW Marriot, which is what I wanted.

now even if not getting an executive room at westin everyone can visit the 'beach bar' as well as the vip ktv at the top floor, which is very nice

Which priceline site did you use: US, HK or UK?
Does the $50 include taxes?

For Westin Grande, I just noticed from their website that they offer "In-Room Massage Treatment." Just out of curiousity, has anyone tried it, and has anyone found out if extras are available from the girl?
