Let me say something about Leela Inn. Yes, it is Arab, but I am not, who cares - as you don't look into the other places. Yes, it has AB/CB/TF - in the room if you want. Yes, it has ThaiMassage connected (donno good/bad but with gatoey (s) as I saw 1 strolling into at noon). Rooms are quite ok, bathrooms same. Never ever had problems with my TG/BG/FL/whatsoever. One checkout I was supposed to had two Carlsberg (never drink that stuff and it was not in). When I said "No, I hadn't" it was ok. Oh I said, "Mai mee tee dto yen", but I think there would be no difference. They even recognized my "new wife" the second time, so she was not asked for ID. It is a 5 minutes alk to soi 7 (Beergarden's) and a seven minutes walk to Eden's place. You should not do these walks between 2 and 6 p.m. But then it is "sabai dee" but crowdy as usual in these places. BTW. If you should feel lonely: there is CNN and some other western stations so don't have to rely on Al Dschazira.

I stayed here in June having found it on the net. Price 900 baht including room upgrade. I don't know how the normal rooms are, but this wasn't bad. Clean and comfortable enough. Definitely girl friendly. I had no problems at all both nights I was there. It is a bit of a trek from Suk, every bit of 5 minutes at least, more if you're walking back with a bargirl. There is another hotel immediately next door which looks a bit shabbier and I wonder whether this is the one that NM saw when driving past Yes, there are several Arab businesses in the Soi such as restaurants and shops. On my last night back in Bangkok after visits to Samui and Chiang Mai, I stayed at the Nana Hotel again instead, as it's closer to the action. That's not exactly the Ritz, but as other Bros have pointed out, how high should the hotel be on the list of priorities anyway?

Leela and Grace are on soi 3. Considering the position of the Grace hotel, cheaper for the same facilities and closer to sukhumvit, is it not a better choice?

Recent reports from a BTF member said that after the renovation, the hotel is very good value. Grace hasn't seen a renovation for decades. My choice would be Leela... little further up the road than the Grace (2 minutes by taxi, 7 minute walk).

Ended up here a couple of years ago. Thought the place was an absolute dump. They are really antsy if you're not a towelhead, so don't expect much in terms of service. It's really not hard to find better, more amenable hotels for the same baht. Also a long way down the Soi. If you're looking to go cheap, that doesn't help unless you like walking.

This must be the post of the year. Read carefully before making stupid posts. Last year the Leela Inn changed into the Unico Leela Inn. It was completely renovated including the entrance, lobby and restaurant and deserves a full 3 star rating. It's not a cheap hotel.. I think,as reported, the rate was THB 1,100 per night.
Also a long way down the Soi.
Long way? Walking to Sukhumvit 5-7 (you can cut short to Soi 5 easily) is no more than 10 minutes. Plenty of taxis past the Leela Inn... 35 baht to Sukhumvit 5-7 unless traffic jam. As Soi 3 is a one way street, coming back is a little more difficult. You either either walk back the full 10 minutes, go by taxi to the end of Soi 11 and walk another 5-6 minutes or take a taxi through Petchburi to Soi 3. 40 baht max.

There are several recent unfavourable reviews by guests who have stayed at Unico Leela this year on Asia Rooms` web site.Even after making allowances for unreasonable expectations about what a 2-3 star hotel should provide these reviews make me very reluctant to book accommodation for any period exceeding 2-3 nights.A deluxe room without a window lacks appeal.
