Definitely a nice walk in the evening but not in the middle of the day as it's a tad bit on the hot side. Even with the stop here and there at a bar along the way.

The Promenade - 200 yards down soi 8 on the right, very quiet, guest friendly, clean and cheap, they ask 1000bt, but tell them you stayed there before, and only paid 800bt, as long as you pay cash they will accept that, small pool on rooftop - not the Emporium Suites, [ my top pick in Bangkok] but good value amongst the cheap/handy places.

Poking around myself for a May trip. Can not find a POST button anywhere and I'm logged in. Major contruction at the Manhattan forces move. With the new subway opening this should make some hotels more convenient. Would like to start a new thread if I could figure out how to.

however, whatch out for the new place they are constructing now, on soi 2 next to annies. Majestic Grande. should be ready in 6 minths or so.
that is gonna be real nice. with theme rooms. I saw the plans and the interior designs. will be in the 1600 baht range.

The construction next to the Manhattan was hardly noticeable, but this hotel is defiantly not GF friendly @ 400 Baht per girl.

Planning to stay in Manhattan for about 5 nights all together in my trip starting 14th October. Booking double occupancy. There should be no problems in girls visiting me or I walking in with one. Any views to the contrary?

... after the trip, kindly drop a quick note and let us know about contruction noise at Manhattan. I had heard that getting a room away from the construction side worked for most people. Now the construction seems to be going on... on both sides of Manhattan. Kinda makes me wonder how bad it really is...
