1) As stated before on this site I stayed in Amari Boulevard off Soi 5 in March, booked a double room and was never challenged, and no fees either. I assume Amari Atrium is the same chain, as Amari airport also.
2) As per discussion on another topic (appropriate atire) elsewhere on this site I preffer slacks and a nice shirt or polo shirt (no jeans & t-shirt). This way I look presentable whereever I choose to go in the evening and I may influence the way I am treated. I feel comfortable in jeans, but at the age of 47 I don't mind casual smart if it serves a higher purpose (getting laid)

Stayed at the Ambassador twice in April 02 before finding a better and cheaper hotel up the street. If you register double (for an extra 200 baht per day) then they get the friends ID and no issue. If you register single they want 500baht per night extra. In the tower the quality of rooms varies from stinks to good. Is a big draw for Indian tourists who appear aggressive as the tailors in town.

The hotel up the street is the Federal. Smaller rooms but clean and no hassels re: friends. For their best rooms they were getting 960baht

dont be 2 harsh on the ambassador!!!!!!!ive had 5 trips 2 los.1st 2 times istayed at the rembrandt sukimvit soi18,nice place id rate it 7out of 10---2000bht,next trip i stayed at j.w. marriott sukumvit soi 2,five star hotel rating 1o out of 10 i got a v special deal of 2900bht.on my next trip i went 2 book marriott but found best price i could get was around 5500bht,so a mate suggested the ambassador,and i have stayed there twice since.yes it was a big comedown from marriott,but here is what i like about it.great location.book twinroom and no probs bringing whores home.i always stay in tower block,if you dont like the 1st room you are allotted theyl move you until satisfied.big bed .huge place makes coming and going very discreet.price---on both trips i have neg a price of 1050baht based on 3----4 weeks.so when i return in a couple of months the ambassador is where ill be.

correct ... anyway, whats a bit of rust in the pipes ! wait till you find a Thai girl who wants to take you to her up country home OEX100, - then you will rate the Ambassador like the Ritz ! As long as you get Air-con, Hot water, Big bed, and not hassled when bringing TGs back ... what more do you want ? - Plenty similar, but smaller in and around soi 11, City lodge, corner soi 9 OK, Promenade down soi 8, or Honey, down soi 19, - same owners as the Federal, but like it, a fair way down the soi. - all these just under 1000bt.

can't argue with what you just mentioned. but, at a ripoff rate of 2000 baht/night - 1st time in bkk 1997 - i didn't expect to shower in water from the chao phraya river.

Done the Amari. they seem to wan't a better cliantele #if you know what I mean,!!
always stay at the Manhatten, no trouble at all
rooms are nice and good breakfast.
if regular girl let her take your key to reception and collect it they will soon get to know her and at breakfast chat to her . Its a game with us now , we give as good as we get.
