If there's anyone in the UK planning to book the Bel Aire, then try Trailfinders 0845 058 5858. They charge £30 a night for a double, around 2,000 baht, and have a 4 nights for the price of 3 deal.

My friend stayed here for a week in June despite my warnings as non-GF Hotel, but he's a stubborn bastard who can't be told
Sure enough first night lead to a walk of shame that I wish I could have seen. Bring beer-bar girl back with him, acting all suave he's learnt fast and is doing ok on his first night in LOS
Walk with girl to reception to get key, he is suddenly affronted by guard
"THB800 charge for guest...sir"
"I'm not paying 800 for 'guest', this is my girlfriend"
"Sorry sir, she is not registered"
He walks to the elevator expecting her to be in tow, but she is grabbed by the guard. She stays at reception trying to convince the staff she 'won't be long', while he waits in the dark corner close to the elevator hiding from the other guests that have just entered the Hotel watching the commotion
Her attempts are futile - they both leave for a short-time Hotel only to find he hasn't changed enough travellers cheques so he doesn't have enough cash for boom boom
Moral- first night was a lonely night for this newbie not attuned to listening to wise advice from forum members

Always stayed here - and it does vary. But last time (March) I remember two Japanse gentlement and three BG entering the lift with two security in hot pursuit. They didn't get away with it !!

Latest this July - still not GF...best to avoid. Heard the tariff no longer includes American breakfast as well
Watch out for the pool as 0.8 to 2.2 metres in no time. Indian chap started panicking & yelling, was in trouble while his 2 sons frolicked around him. Aussie guy rescued the poor man in the end...where the hell were the Thai pool attendents? Nowhere to be seen !

Stayed in Bel Air Princess in march cause my favorites were fully booked or shockingly expensive... Bel Air was 1400 THB with breaky (which I never have...) as Wotif Mystery Deal.
Nice enough budget hotel, but:
1) the renovation of the lobby makes a much nicer impression than the refurbishing of the rooms and especially the ageing bathrooms can keep...
2) Yes it is GF, but when I showed up with 2 girls in tow they wanted 1000 as a joiner fee for the 3rd person because I had a double room... a joke... Never had this in much more expensive hotels...
So no going back there... bye bye Bel Air Princess...
Oh, and it is pretty deep into Arab land... Not a no-go, but not teaser either... The discount rate brought a very mixed lot into the place...

Yes the place as I recalled it was even worse.....
Glad you confirmed it wasn't too hostile to girls.
I used to get charged a joiner (small back then)
Some others said they don't always.....
None the less it proves you can take woman there.
The shity carpet and plumbing in the end made me give up also.
