I realise it may be a little late for you now but it did occure to me that if you had booked on line to get a good rate for 1 or 2 nights at a hotel, it would be possible to go back on line to extend the booking if you were happy with the place. I realise that this takes a little time but it should be possible.
I suggest this as it appears that some others have had problems with extended bookings.

Good point. This is what I do if I need to extend. Just do it online!! This saves me the hassles of trying to get the same rate from the hotel.
