The MG is great value for money, Business Class like JWM and Landmark, but much cheaper...
Unfortunately the time of the masked black owls begins now and til the end of the rainy season in November this Soi 2 hotel will have their fare share of the Arabs flooding the area and - I don't know why - many of these people don't know how to behave. They treat the superbly nice staff of the MG in such a rude way... Just look into the Thai's faces when they have to deal with those Arabs...

Most of these arabs are behaving like as*****
-> the only advantage
I have a better service (if it was possible) from the thai staff
and I am able to date some of the staff.......me being a nice and polite eurasian guy

But I said dating: you know how it goes with regular thai ladies, got invited to dinner, even got invited for a trip to the beach etc............
Nothing more and do not even think to be too demonstrative as they could get fired if tey are caught "teasing"....

By "some" of the staff, I'm guessing you mean you have gone out with "one" of them. More than one would likely cause some hard feelings. I've also dated one of the staff there. I'd even be willing to bet that it's the same girl since she's more open minded than the other staff there.

There's no doubt that they don't like the Arabs. It's not only in the thai facial expressions, they will tell you straight out that the Arabs are smelly and rude. LOL! The thai staff at all hotels will tell you the same. It's uncomfortable for me to stay at hotels where there are too many arabs. But I feel bad for the staff more than for myself. I'm not sure why MG has so many Arabs. My guess is that they must market to the middle east like crazy.

I only dated 2 ladies, one public relation and one from the business center, though by dating I mean:
- going out for diner with friends etc....

Just stayed 5 nights at MG.
I pretty much concur with Stephane so wont repeat everything he wrote.
I found the pool area quite pleasant, however it wouldnt handle a large crowd too well.
The service is good but not as slick as JWM, the rooms are modern and nice, but not as large as JWM, but at 2,990 baht this is an excellent value hotel in a great location.
