Does anyone know any new information about gyms in Bangkok? Since this threads info is quite old. I only know of the really expensive place on Sukhmvit. I am looking more for a daily price, cause I am not planning on staying a month.

California Wow on the corner of Sukhumit and Soi 23 is probably the best gym in Bangkok with free weights.a good variety of classes including Pump,Body Combat,Cycle,Body Balance, Aerobics and Dance. The gym is open every day with classes from early morning until about 9 PM.Casual membership is available for 150 baht a day.Best of all 75% of the members are Thai girls aged 18 to 30.Whenever I am in Bangkok I use the gym.Its facilities are as good or better as any gym you will find in the United States,Europe or Australia.

Best tip I could give you is to book the Pathumwan Princess Hotal and you will be comp'd the best gym/fitness center in the city- Olympic Club. I do not know whether the hotel is girl firendly, but being anchored to the MBK Center is an advantage, as is proximity to CM2 and Siam. Second tip would be to book the Landmark Hotel. That would [or should anyway] get you comp'd at the #2,3 or 4th place runner up for best fitness club in the city via access to their having Fitness First on site. Third Option is booking Jasmine Suites so you are an elevator ride away from Calfornia WOW. But! Check first if they have an arrangment. Becasue I heard the daily rate at Calli WOW was Bt1000/day [and that is a crime]!

Thank you, atl Being anchored to the MBK Center brings many advantages, too. The hotel went through a renovation this past year that is quite impressive. Pathumwan Princess From a service and facilities point of view- It is on par with the Landmarks and JW Marriots IMO- classical string trio's play over the lobby at tea time, talented lounge singers in the evenings, gracious staff, etc. Plus, I have also heard rave reviews of both the Korean and Japanese restaurants there (on more than one occasion). Dagul- no offense, but that link leaves a few out. And is out of date. Glaring omissions here: Olympic Club Siam Paragon California WOW **nauseous music alert!** True Fitness Center which opened recently in the Exchange Tower [opposite side of Sukhumvit and Asoke intersection from the California WOW facility]

A cheap and pleasant way to get some exercise is to keep walking past the Landmark Hotel, away from Nana. There is a little park near the emporium where lots of Thais and Farangs do their exercises, about a 5 or 10 minute walk away, on the same side as the Landmark. I would guess around about soi 20. Around 5pm to 7pm there are lots of joggers running round the park in an anti-clockwise direction. There are also hundreds of people doing aerobics at one end of the park with music and instructor. At the other end tai chi with instructor. Also basketball and volleyball and people working out all over the place. I found exercising here a lot more fun than working out in my hotel's air conditioned gym. I know it isn't a gym but it is free and it is nice to be out doors. Worth a visit in my opinion before you pay the high gym prices if you are only staying on Sukhumvit for a short time. Also, take a bit of money because there a couple of little shops in the park selling water and drinks.

also good is the new Sirikit park on Asoke.. leave the landmark and turn right at Asoke.. you will see the lake and entrance.. nice walling path, bike path, par course and jogging track that is very cushioned.. there are bikes for rent, but cheapos.. also if you want a real workout, rent a paddle boat and take your sweetie for a ride on the lake.. you can walk there from Lumpini by taking the 'skywalk' which is very pleasant.. I often walk from the Four SEasons to may condo using that route.. best of all it is free.. except for the paddle boat/bikes

The park is between soi 22 and 24, right next to the Emporium. I think they call it "counter-clockwise."
