For what it's worth, RTB was there to help me find someone to check me in around midnight the last time I was there.
Found the tuk tuk driver around seventy five percent of the time I needed him.
Agree that there isn't much difference between standard and deluxe room.

My point is, if you are identified on this forum as a guy who can facilitate at Town Lodge, it would be nice if that were true.
I am grateful that you made reservations for my friends at all.
Of course, I could have accomplished the same thing by simply calling the reception desk myself. I might have even been told that Deluxe Rooms, or Superior Rooms, whatever we are calling them this week, were all booked. This would have given me the ability to make a decision on whether to place them somewhere else.
Town Lodge is not the only place in town where farang can be lodged for the munificent sum of 1200-1400 baht a night.
Yes, the place is clean. It has a certain sense of style.
It also has no elevator, and the Standard Rooms have no bathtubs. And the tuk tuk guy is rarely available, in my experience.
And what the hell is up with the prices that you charge for a simple beer?
I have to say, I was embarrassed. My pals looked at me, wondering why I put them in a place with no bathtub, at the end of a soi with no easy access to transportation, and the bar on the ground floor, Toxic, which I happen to like, charging extortionate rates for a beer.
They were happier at the Emerald. They would have been happier at the Chaopaya Park. Or the Palazzo. Or a number of any other venues.
Got to say, RTB: a simple conversation with me, or with my pals, would have fixed it all. We would have said "fine, no problem."
But you ignored those guys, and they said that you treated them rudely. I chalked that up to the fact that you are a Brit and they are American, but there it is. It does not change the dynamic.
I have no need to bludgeon you over this.
Take it with a grain of salt, and if the shoe fits, wear it. Or not. Your world will continue to turn, as will mine.
But frankly, I have no reason to go to the far end of Soi 18 to a bar like Toxic when I can go to Titanium, or Glow, which have better locations, unless I know the guy who owns the place, and he treats me and my guests with a little common courtesy and friendliness.
Absent a relationship with a guy who is, at least, a proverbial "good guy," why in the hell go all the way to the end of Soi 18?
Good luck, mate. Maybe you were just having an off week. Or maybe I rubbed you the wrong way at some point.
No need to buy me a drink. If I run into you in town, I will buy you one.

I am sorry I indeed do not know the owner. I was trying to think why TL occupancy rate was very low for 2 months, at least as reported to be from BTF members (maybe was full from bookings of passing bys) I thought most reservations are done using email which RTB gets, but perhaps not. Maybe seeing ma9's story sure does not help to make things better. Indeed I do not know the owner nor do I know RTB (thought he is Swiss, seems he is British now?).

From the strong opinions you have expressed about Town Lodge throughout this thread, I thought you might have met the owner or RTB or had been to Town Lodge (in which case you would have met RTB). My mistake.

Nop have not yet had the pleasure to stop by Toxic and meet RTB and his team. Hope to do so next time I'm in BKK, usually I stay at the Landmark though, but will make the trip to visit TL and Toxic just to meet RTB and buy him a drink or two (of the Elit of course). Sorry about my past comments, I indeed did not know RTB. Guess I missed the joke about his British accent.. oh well... too drunk to think straight these days.

Stayed here 7-9 april in a standard room and thought it was nice, but not having a tub in the loo and the shower water running all over the floor was a bit of a pain. Also in my drunken stooper one night picked up the wrong room key and was in it for a good 10 minutes before I realized it wasn't mine! Bit of a security issue there IMO. Seemed to be some kind of massive construction work going the morning I left which I can only assume was next door as the whole room was shaking.
