Hi Guys,
Sorry to interrupt the ongoing discussion and come back to the hotel itself.
What would you recommend: Grottino or Townlodge. Was in Grottino last September and was quite happy there except the view....but had other things to do anyway!
Please let me know. Is there "schwiizerduetsch" also mandatory  Will arrive again in July and am really looking forward.

Can't answer all your questions, never stayed at Grottino.
If it's a view you want, then you could probably write off half the Hotels in Bkk.
If it's good, friendly service, in a clean Hotel, at a more than reasonable rate, then Town lodge will fit the bill well...IMHO
Dunno about the "schwiizerduetsch"....
I'm back next week for my 6th stay since Christmas, so I guess I rather like the place.
The Club, Toxic, is fine. Sometimes a tad quiet and sometimes off the wall !!!!
But beware, the "English" guy that runs the place likes a drink...lol...
Even on a quiet night, the eye candy is good and provided you are prepared to buy the odd drink or 2 you will have no trouble making new friends.
Def gets my vote...but I'm biased.

SG's rooms are about twice the size of Town Lodge and more tastefully furnished (IMHO). SG's location is better with less than a 5 minute walk to the SkyTrain or MRT against a 10+ minute walk from the Town Lodge. SG also has a "private" entrance, so no walk of shame!

Stayede at BOTH last Month,,, SG for only 400 BHT more is the far superior choice IMHO.

TL – has Toxic right there to start the night, tuk-tuk will take you to the end of the soi, or even over to say Soi 22 (Titanium or one of the other bars on 22), you have to pass by the receptionist but hardly a walk of shame. Plus if you hit it off with RTB he can show you some of the late night venues in BKK.
SG - has location and larger rooms
Both IMHO are good values - will you spend enough time in the room that the room size will matter much? Beds are basically the same in both. Does location matter enough to pay more? Up to you.

Twice the size? That would make the rooms fairly small I would think?
Location is better that is for sure but Town Lodge does have a free tuk-tuk you can use.
I never have given a crap about the walk of shame so that doesn't matter to me.
The rooms can't really be half the size can they?
Just trying to figure out where to stay, so far leaning to SG.

The SG rooms are big for the money, they have a full sized Desk, mid sized lounge and coffee table plus a King sized Bed, pity the Bathrooms are a little small. If not twice the size of the standard Town Lodge rooms they are dam close to being!

Small rooms (though tastefully decorated)
Customers have ben complaining about mosquitos
Water supply (especially hot) is lacking at times
Desk not always manned
1,150 baht per night
