Agreed. WGS, SGS and JWM are all top hotels in Suk area. Of these, I prefer WGS and SGS because of LOCATION, service, staff and hotel rewards program. With the MRTA Asok station now open, I'm sold even more on these 2 hotels, can't beat the 1 minute walk to BTS/MRTA interchange, plus 7-11, KS Pharmacy, multiple ATMs, Robinson, McDonalds right there. Soi Cowboy only a 5-min walk, and Nana one BTS station away.
I'm a slave to rewards/loyalty programs, so I try to stay at Sheraton-Westin or Marriott chains whenever possible. When on expense account in BKK I stay at SGS, on my own nickle I stay at WGS. Last month, I booked a standard room at WGS for 100USD (govt rate), but was able to lock-in an Exec Floor room for 124USD at the last minute (breakfast, evening cocktails and business center access incl).

So my vote is Westin and my regular room on 17th floor will be occupied again in 5 days by yours truly! Ahh!!! Sweet days to come!
Oh - and almost forgot: broadband easy hookup in room which is really useful. Cost 640 b for 24 hrs limitless use.
thx for the info on broadband..that is nice..what about the 17th floor? can someone coming from priceline request sth like that? what is the best place to be..we got 3 rooms!

I'm not sure to be honest as I've only just signed up myself and have a booking through priceline for the Westin in June.
I'll probably just mail the hotel and see what they say. Failing that I guess you could just give your membership number when you check in?

Most hotels do not give points for priceline. One reason is that you pay in advance, and there will be no room charges on your hotel bill.
You can earn points for other charges, such as restaurant, laundry, phone, etc. This works for programs that award points based on the amount of money spent, rather than number of nights you stay in the hotel.

Today at the Marriott they brought in metal detectors, and are searching all cars and people entering the building. The have locked the door by the cigar shop, so there is the walk of shame factor. Is this unusual, only my second day here, has anyone seen this before?

Strange Lickalotapus, maybe its you? Or that LB loving friend of yours Megasawarse? I saw some mongers and their girls walking back to the Marriot last night, everything looked OK from the outside. Glad I choose to stay at the Sheraton then, pooped in for a quick drink at Rivas last night, watching several ladies (some quite stunning) getting dropped off at the street entrance. Um.. so anyway, no I cant help you mate soz. Hopefully it may have just been a one off security scare/problem.

No LB's for me. Never had one never will. Looks like it is a temporary security thing because of the damn Mooslams. They put up a notice in the business center apologizing for the inconvenience. There is no problem bringing someone back. The bakery and cigar entrances are closed, you now have to go through the main entrance and walk through a metal detector. From what I saw they will let anyone through.
PS. If any of you are one of the two Aussies that came back to the Marriott at about 1:15 am. May I make a suggestion, barfine before getting to drunk to see.
