must be a louzy place if the reservations requests are answered by the general manager... They dont have a reservations department? Does not predict any good. I would rather try the Amari Boulevard Hotel, which is much better located on sukhumvit and has the sky train almost in front of the door.
As above.
It's exceptionally good value, sure it's a bit amateurish compared with the other large 4 and 5 star hotels in the Sukhumvit area, but at 2700 a night you can't complain.

Exactly. I will NEVER stay at an Amari again after they charged me 800 baht for a joiner fee once. If they were going to do that they should have warned me when I first checked in, not when I'm bringing the girl to the room.

No hotel will mention joiner fees when you check in because you may cancell your reservation. If you are lucky there may be some information in the room warning about joiner fees. The Holiday Inn, Silom Road once charged me 1500 baht joiner fee.

Good to know. I'm going to have the manager at Majestic Grande write on my check in card that I'm not to be charged joiner fees during my stay at the hotel just to be safe. I don't want to have to bother arguing with a night front desk person about it.

Can you imagine a nice man checking in at the Amari. Reservation for 2 and states his wife is shopping and will come later. The reception stated that they will charge for joiners. Guest looks bewilderd and has no clue what they talking about.
You think they going to tell every single person who checks in that this 'policy' exist??
Get real, most guests are no whore mongers and normal people. You are the exception to the rule, not the rule!!!!

HAHAHA! It doesn't really matter to me what people I don't know want to think about me. I'm going to Thailand to have a good time. But thanks for the reassurance. Saved me the hassle of having to bother with bringing up the issue to begin with.

Actually, this is a fav tactic to avoid "difficult situations", saying your wife is out shopping and will join you later.
Now the hotel has the "difficult situation" of stopping you and asking if this is your wife, with all the possible negative consequences thereof.
Never had anyone call me on this, dozens of hotels in a score of nations, it never fails.
Ps. I have also met a large number of gentlemen mongers who are "nice men."

Even better,,, wear Arab type clothes and say your WIVES are all out shopping,, that will fuk em.
As for Holiday inn Silom Road,, I do believe a visit by 10 or so BKT forum members each spaced 30 minutes apart carrying empty bags, checking in and asking about "joiner fees " followed by leaving without checking in may give them the appropriate message. Perhaps a job for General Jingjoe and his army upon return from Pattaya.
