Hey guys lay off the ambassador!!!!! ive stayed there on my last 4 trips.my last trip was oct 2002 i always booked as a single, ive had a couple of minor hiccups bringing sluts back to my room, but nothing i couldnt handle. i always stay in the tower wing (7000bht perweek) and yes there are usually 2 or 3 hotel staff hanging around the lifts between 12 and3am, but its not a problem, just bowl up with your slut in tow, say hello and go to the lift, 90% of the time there wont be a problem, if someone questions you just say "my girlfriend" and look suitably offended.also on about every 2nd or 3rd night when you arrive at the lift just shake hands with the most senior of the staff and slip him 100---150 bht and that works wonders.i usually stay for around 4weeks at a time and probably tip the staff a total of 1500---2000 bht over the 4 weeks. thats about $40 U.S. it really works wonders!!!!! in my opinion the ambassador is the BEST value hotel in bangkok. on my last trip i was persueded by a friend to stay at the nana, well i lasted 1 night checked out and went to the ambassador.i will continue to stay there until i die or the hotel gets pulled down.

I'm sure the "whores" and "sluts" think you're a swell guy, Meat, but your taste in hotel rooms is in your ass, competing with your head for space.
The Ambassador is an aging dump, with at least half a dozen better places within a couple of sois.
Of course, your VAST experience carries a lot of weight, so I won't bother naming any...besides, you'll stay at the Ambassador until you "die or the hotel gets pulled down"...
A particularly nice touch was when some guy landed in the parking lot a couple of years ago - complete with bullet holes. Never even hit the extended awning on the ground floor. I suppose he had some help with his trajectory...
Another fun Ambassador story, is the time when the east annex burned (3 am), and the firemen flooded the shops adjacent - Big Boy was a waterfall for another day...rumors of arson for insurance...
It was a nice place in its day, but it's got the wrong 'attitude' these days...
Not that guys who call TGs "whores" and "sluts" deserve much better...

yeah the ambassador has certainly seen better days.
imho the small hotels with basic rates are the most tg friendly. try impala (soi sukh 24 or four wings soi sukh 26) they give a new meaning to tg friendly.
anyway in the hope of attracting big-spending tourists the bigger ones like lotus or amari want to promote their facilities (gym, pool, restaurants, grand lobby, etc) which us punters never use.
anyhow, hotel choice is a matter of personal taste and dispo cash available for your trip. you can always find nice clean friendly smaller hotels and use the surplus cash for a good time.

Yes, Fresh Meat - your opinions on the Ambassador Hotel are most welcome but your choice of titles for the Thai Girls, although no doubt accurate, is not as welcome here.
It would be much appreciated if in any future posts you could refer to these women, who no doubt provided you with much pleasure and did their best to make you feel loved and wanted for a very small price, in a more suitable manner.

Just thought I would add my experiance of the Ambassador:
Stayed there in April this year (2003) for 4 days at the start of Hols and 4 days at the end I booked over the internet before I left the UK gor a Double room on 3rd Floor Main wing (same floor as the awimming pool so very handy).
As said I booked a double and when I arrived I told I( reiterated that it was a double and told them therefore no guest charges when girlfriend stays with me. They did ask me for her name so I just said it was Nok (an old GF from Cowboy) all they did was wright that at the top of my registration form. (room had been paid for by CC over internet).
Got shown to the room. Overlooked Soi 13 towards Suk. Room was large, very clean and the bed was a King size, TV worked fine ant the bathromm was clean and, tidy and worked eg hot and cold running water.
It ws fine for me could not ask for ant more. I have stayed in better (for a greater cost) and I have stayed in a lot worse.
As for guest friendly: I had no problems with bringing a lady or two (sometimes 3) back afternoon/early evening.
When bringing back a lady for a LT at about 02.00 or 03.00 am just got asked by the consearge if my room was booked as a double said yes he checked and said OK did not even have to put the ID in.
I thought the staff were very friendly and helpful. locked myself out and the young room maid shot off and came back with the senior housekeeper to open the room.
After one afternoon session (3 girls) the towles had all been used as had the shower cap and the bed was in a mess. I like it to be clean for the lady I would bring back LT so as I was leaving for the evening I asked the young room maid if she would mind making my room up again. I did give her 200 baht which probably helped but when I got back I had bed all made, clean towels shower cap and condoms emtied from the bin.
Like I said this is just my experiance from this I would stay there again and would recomend it to others.
They only thing I would say is that the corridors were a bit dingy and I don't like the padded walls reminds me of an asylum, still this is probably appropriate for me.
This only my opinion and I have previously stayed at the Honey Hotel so as far as I was concerened this was upmarket for me. By the way I am used to staying in 5 star hotels in the UK but then again the company pay for this not me.

I stayed for 2 nights in Feb with my t/gf (this year). I found the hotel to be very clean & 'well lived in' but this did not bother me. The staff & concierge were very friendly and very very helpful . When it came to checking out, we were late, so i phoned for the concierge to come up and take our luggage & within 2 minutes there was a knock at the door.
Incidentally, i was given a free upgrade to one of the service apartments, my only complaint was that it didn't have a double, but two large singles, but still big enough for me and my t/gf to share.
I did initially try to book with the Bel-Aire Princess Hotel, but that was fully booked.
Location is great, and will consider staying there again on my next visit. Not far from Eden's either which I will definitely visit on my next trip!
