My history of bangkok hotels is this: Pan Pacific. I stayed there in my early trips because it's near my firm's offices. It's ok. A bit tired. Overpriced. Location is good for Patpong, but I'm not a big Patpong fan. I never tested it's girlfriendliness. Conrad. Great hotel, but just seemed a bit far from anywhere interesting. This was before I got my bearings in bkk and I now know it's a short ride to Suk Road. Great rooms, but again I never tested the girlfriendly issue. Landmark - comments in previous post. President Solitaire. I love this place. http://www.asiahotels.com has rooms for 2500++. Great location on Suk 11..close enough to the action, yet at a discrete and quiet distance from the noise. It's a little oasis. Some guys here don't rate the food.. I can't comment on that cos I never eat there, not even bfast. I've stayed there 3-4 times over last few months and will be staying again for 13 nights in July. It's my home from home. The free broadband and wireless internet connection makes it a great deal in itself. in other hotels I'm paying A$24 a day for that!.

Greetings: I like the Landmark hotel. Centralized to most of the action, nice rooms, friendly hotel staff, guest friendly, BTS is easily accessible, nice gym, all at a good price. The problem is that since most tg's know that I stay there it's convenient to find me!! ha ha ha!!

I have no problem with them taking the ID card, pretty much the norm and as much for your own benefit. The single/double thing etc quite the norm I thought. Baiyoke Sky for instance has a policy of you registering your guest on check in the 3 times I stayed there and was pulled up once on having a different guest but just told her to leave the ID card etc and what was the problem!
