All this talk about pre-booking and finding the best rates... and some people countering that the best rates aren't really the best...
I hear credit cards get wrongly billed or falsely billed if used at LOS. (????)
Why do we have to be prepared and go along the path most trodden?
Why not just go there, walk into (say) Manhattan on Sukhumvit west - and bargain for a room? (Money saved can be better spent on TG)... if no room, move on to the next hotel.
What are the chances of not getting a room in this March end?
Comments from the experts please?? (I'll be carrying my ass to Bkk in a few days and will need parking space with a good king-sized bed. Never been there yet.)

I've used precision 3-4 times with no problem. Have gotten very good prices - and to be candid I think you would be hard pressed to get a better walk in rate.
Off the top of my head, I've used them for hotels in P-loke and maybe Sukhothai, and will be staying at the dusit in chiang rai for what I think is a great rate of around $58 for a deluxe room (up one from superior).
I didn't even know they had a rewards program until I got an email statement and I think I need one more stay for a free night somewhere.

Beware of precisions 21% additional costs added AFTER quoted price.
Check with http://www.hotelreslist.com they add that before displaying base prices.

P.S asiarooms.com is nearly always cheapest and walk-in prices are nearly always MOST expensive.

Good to know MG, thanks for the tips. I ended up going through my travel agent & she was able to get the room for the same price as quoted through asiarooms for the Majestic Grande (~$71). Only did it this way since she's handling my flight itinerary as well, so killing 2 birds with 1 stone as they say. Appreciate the info guys. This forum rocks.

atsiam.com shows higher rates than, for example, asiarooms.com. As an example, Majestic Grand is priced at 70 US$ single/double incl. breakfast, taxes and fees. BUT, if you show the rate in Thai Baht, it is only 2660 b for double incl. breakfast and taxes.

WARNING!!!!!
Do not use Precision Reservations
After "confirming" my reservation for 3 rooms in the JW Marriot Bangkok, it was allocated to others. No suitable alternative hotel was offered by Precision except the westin, sheraton and conrad at much higher rates.
Ended up having to book the Novotel Lotus on my own which was a very poor substitute for the Marriot.

Yeah, you're probably right. Next time I won't distinguish between a mini IPOD and a 60Gig IPOD when I am searching on Froogle or any other price comparison site.
There both IPODS.
I'm pleased you agree with me. It always seems so difficult to get you to agree to anything reasonable.
As I said, it depends on what you want. A better way to phrase it would be "if all I want is a cheap MP3 player with minimum specs, and all other factors are irrelevant, what do I get?"
