JMHO but I avoid Tuk Tuk drivers at all costs, especially the ones handing out flyers or trying to take me somewhere...i think thats a fairly common mindset after all the 'stories' on the net...but the idea itself is good...how about having a few pretty ladies at the mouth of the soi doing the same, handing out flyers, they then wave a cab down and your doorman covers the cab on arrival.
Also financial incentives to freelancers working the main FL disco areas, offer them something in return for dragging there customer into Toxic for one more drink etc.

Another idea, I see that you already advertise with Stickman, why not invite him over to review the place, or do a sponsored interview with you about what you hope to achieve.
Anyone entering the bar mentioning Stickman gets 10% off their bill, food and drink or something.

Thanks for the comments chaps - useful stuff.
I have to admit to being in agreement with most of the sentiments expressed.
A Tuk Tuk for the hotel is something we hope to get next year. That will obviously have adverts for the hotel and bar all over it. It will also be parked at the top end of the soi so passers by notice it. In the meantime I am working on getting drivers who will come to the hotel when we call them. Arranging for these guys to stay at a certain place all day is not so easy and then I would have to be constantly checking them. I will give that more thought though.
The girls handing out flyers is also under consideration but how long do you have to have them doing this - one day, one week, one month? That is my present conundrum.
Stickman and I have already agreed to meet in just under two weeks time and we have renewed our banner add with the site for one year.
Just to let you know though yesterday (Tuesday) ALL Standard Rooms were sold and we only had one Deluxe and two Jacuzzi rooms available. This is just one day (well three actually) but gives me a boost and keeps up my belief that we can have this hotel exceeding seventy percent occupancy in a resonable period.

1st place 100,000 baht and girl
2nd 40,000

Get a wall and winners go up.
Have the comp yearly.
Recruit girls for it.
It's would generate fly ins and interest and talk.
Limit entry to 40
Best of 3 all matches
2pm - 10pm ( 2 days)
10pm to 3am party

Not too sure our present pool table would be ideal for a competition but that is something I can work round.

Kevin are you taking steps to update TL`s web site which currently promises "Swiss management"?
You also seem to be relying on Agoda to find custom rather than by more independent advertising through Bangkok Tonight which was RTB`s approach. I say this because I no longer see any advertisements by Town Lodge(which enabled me to connect to TL`s web site) when I access that site although Aviva and EZ massage continue to maintain their advertisements.
For me the strengths of TL are (1) its very reasonable tariff (2) good quality sheets with large comfortable beds (3) a high standard of cleanliness both in the rooms and common areas (4) friendly staff with reasonable English language skills (5) a firm no smoking policy in the hotel common areas (6) girl friendly without any joiner fees (7) guests who more often than not have something interesting to say.I suspect that the location of Toxic within the hotel encourages this. I would cease to patronise TL if there was a sudden influx of families with children (8) its proximity to a number of good, reasonably priced restaurants, night life,BTS,and MRT for those who are prepared to accept a moderate amount of walking(9) its quiet location (10) the feedback about the hotel that is available to Forum members.

I echo most of Valetta's reasons for staying at TL...and I might add that, by my own estimation (I could be wrong), I think I may be the most frequent guest at TL by average number of nights per year (around 80+)...I really had no complaints under the old management, though I heartily welcome the reduction in drink prices in Toxic that Kevin has outlined in another post! It will make me a much more regular customer there when I stay at TL...

Valetta. First of all a big thank you for your positve comments regarding the hotel. I do think it highly unlikely we will be attracting the family tourists so your cointinued patronage will hopefully be assured.
The Toxic Club and Lobby will be linked up to True Visions today (Sunday) so the football and other sports will be available from tonight onwards.
I am hopeful just having some basic food available (for example pie & chips; burgers, pork or chicken and chips and a range of sandwiches) will also prove to be a benefit.
As regards advertising I have to say I am most certainly NOT relying on Agoda - that would be suicide.
We have just renewed our Stickman banner advert for twelve months which actually is far better at producing customers than Agoda! As regards other sites, such as bangkok2night, I am looking into what has happened with these. The previous regime may have let them lapse but I will certainly be looking to promote the business on this site as I am doing with Stickman.
Unfortunately I have numerous matters to attend to which have to take priority over advertising funding and am working within budgetary constraints as anyone would expect. However, the owners are being incredibly supportive and by the end of this month we can see where we are going regarding our marketing.
However, for me the one true way of developing the business is through repeat customers and recommendation. It takes time but a high level of service usually sees people returning time and time again - that is certainly what happened with my previous hotel (Pattaya) where in five years I had eighty percent occupancy and never spent one baht on advertsing nor had the need to use tour operators/travel companies.
vox - I look forward to seeing you. At eighty nights a year you spend over twenty percent of your life with us here! WOW!! I am also pleased to here the new drink prices are to your liking.

Ps that pool table was fine last I was there.
As I set up a trick shot ( five balls in different pockets ) one shot....
The slate needs to be very true for it to go.
And it went first shot...
Unless f***ers ruined the table it was as good or better than the gullivers tables.
