Well there appears to be a bit of a double approach to reservation enquries:
"Dear Mr.xxx,
Thank you for your e-mail, we are pleased to confirm your reservation for May 20-22, 2005 (for 2 nights) as follow:-
1 Double Premier room @:Bht.1200.00 per room/per night (not incl B'fast) "
Maybe it was because my initial email requested confirmation of room availability for those dates at the rate of 1200 per night for premier room...??
Or maybe they won't extend it past May and just won't say so. What I do know is that I'll have a printout of my email on me when I checkin.

I stayed at this place 9th April 05 to 18th April 05. Room was ok for 1200 a night.
They were girl friendly enough, but I think I upset the 'older' reception staff when I took 3 girls back on the last night one of whom was pissed out of her head. The looks I received in the morning were horrendous 5555.
I think they thought I was taking the piss...maybe thats why they have PVC mattresses 
Anyway I am going back for another week on 30th April and booked at the same 1200 rate. I got this price even though the sign displayed at reception states the promotion rate has ended. I would not have payed more.
The best bit for me is the location of the place, 1 minute walk from Nana BTS.
A negative point is that there are no room safes.
I think they will be wanting 2000 a night for a basic room in the not too distant future - there is no way the place is worth that price.

I have to agree with Golden Eye, there's a few odds and ends missing for the money they will be asking soon. I stayed there 9 April - 14 April.
The room was certainly huge and nice for 1200 baht. I think this room will cost 1700 baht in the future. That's too high for the amount of drawbacks in this place.
You can't access your safe after midnight, nor do you get to keep the key to it. 
If the cost of your stay will exceed 5000 baht you have to pay the difference on check in.
There's no mini bar in the room.
The carpet and furntiure are obviously used.
The laundry list doesn't state what time you have to drop off your clothes to get them back the next day. Thanks to that oversight, I had to leave country without my laundry.
To top it off on checkout once I was handed the receipt, all the staff buried their heads in their papers, I had to say thank you first.
The coffee shop is comparable to the Dynasty and the Nana skytrain entrance is right at the corner. Those are the only pros once the price goes up and big f***in' deal anyway.
Majestic is less expensive and outclasses this place not to mention the Swiss Grottino is in a class of it's own for less than what these jokers are about to charge. Bottom line is there's better hotels for less money, they blew their first and last impression with me.

I find your post, black cats, of interest! I have not stayed here at the G/B/I and have lots and lots at Swiss Grotino.
I was only going here for a change. I may have to reconsider that thought after reading your comments.
No mini bar for real? That is different

Nope, no mini bar, just a few bottles of water, 1 is free. You'd figure for 1200+ baht a night, you might get two. In fact I haven't heard anything about the laundry, I'll email them and post the outcome. The fact that they have my email address and haven't sent a "we're sorry, the clothes are in the mail" shows they could care less about me coming back.

Stayed there 4 nights of my May trip it’s a nice place for 1200thb but when they put the price up maybe not such good value for money, for the reasons given by the other posters. For about 1200thb (via Precision Reservations) the Swiss Park just around the corner is much better value with in room safe, pool fully stocked mini bar etc. Also very GF as I took 2 girls back on my first night and not an eyebrow was raised

I received this email from GBI this afternoon:

Funny thing is, the fact sheet I received yesterday said the promotion runs until 31st October 2005.

That's just an example of how screwed up that place is.
Also, I think they're starting to realize that it's not
worth any more than they're charging now. If they got
their service act together, it would be the best deal in
Sukhumvit, but I'd have to read some better reports
before I'd go back.
