I arrived at BKK on Wednesday morning and had a booking at the Ambassador Hotel in the Main Wing. I had got thre booking done only for 2 day as advised by the friends on this forum.
This is the obversation that I have in 2 days.
The Hotel staff in very helpful and very friendly. I checked in on 10th morning and had a booking for 2 days. Paid 30$ (1260 Bhatts) per nite to my travel agent (not online) with an included breakfast. (the bastard cheated me as the rooms in the hotel are also now available for as low as 1200 Bhatts) I wasent so annoyed on teh travelk agent until I checked up the website http://www.planetholidays.com. They are offering a double room in the Tower room for $33 (1386 Bhatts) which again included Breakfast in the sea food.
Also as I had a only 2 day booking in the Main Wing I sent a request to the Planet Holiday ppl and after chatting with their executuive for 15 minutes she gave me the address to the Bangkok office. I went there, they called up the hotel got me a booking for 4 days incl Breakfast for an unbeliveable price of 1386 and that too just 24 hours before the booking date. (the other online booking companies/travel agents we not even accepting the bookings) I mean for the price the Hotel in very good, its centrally located, the food is also good, the staff if friendly and they easily understand English).
Tommorow I would be checking into the Tower Wing of the Ambassador Hotel and I ve heard that the building is new as compared to the Main wing which is showing signs of ageing.
Would post tommorow my observation on the Tower Wing. Anyone who would like to have the address of the Planet Holiday's Bangkok office please send me a message at this forum or at harjeev@transworld.co.in

Yes the Tower Wing of the Ambassador is very good when compared to the Main Wing. I havent checked the othere Hotels as I like the Ambassador, Even the staff is co-operative. But today bad luck struck me as I lost my mobile in the hotel Room or Lobby I cant remember but it was a brand new moibile Nokia 8310 just bought 2 days before commencing the trip for $350. I lost it when I was changing rooms from the Main Wing to the Tower Wing. So I am feeling very bad too as it was not insured and I had a lot of contacts in the phone book of the mobile and all is gone now. I think that I must have droped it somewhere cauz it cant be misplaced from the room as my digital cammera, my palm top laptop everything was there in the room but only the mobile is missing. Even my passport with ๊US $1000 was there on the table. I think that it was my mistake.
Anyways SHIT HAPPENS and this is no different.
Back to the topic the tower wing is much better than the main wing I would advise everyone who is staying in this hotel to stay in the Tower Wing as the rate diff is not to much but the quality of the room is far more superior, the rooms are bigger, the bathroom is also cleaner and bigger than the other ones.
OK got to go now
Keep writing and be careful about your belongings while in BKK or for that matter anywhere in the world. My carelessness has just costed me $350 just be carefull about yours.

Seems like you have to book a double if you want to bring TG's to your room without paying a guest-fee. Someone in the previous posts in this tread said that you have to pay an additional 200 bath for double, but....
If booking through precisionreservations.com as a double (2 adults) I need to enter not only my name but also the other guests name. Also the price seems to be the same for 2 adults as 1. Btw, saw that you could choose a king size bed instead of twins.
I'm a bit confused over this booking thingy and would like to get some help.

I've stayed @ Ambo a couple of times recently and each time I booked a Tower wing double and had no probs bringinng back TGs. I was challenged once at the lifts by security but it was OK after they checked their list and saw I had a double. Good value digs & close to everything that matters!

Yes, definetly as of about 3 months ago. Make sure you book a double room though!

something of value. It is extremley annoying.

Hello All!
first post on this great site! thanks to all people involved in it, this really helps to have a great timew in Thailand. I've booked the ambassador for 2 nights (saturday & sunday), after that I've read many posts with a negative feedback, I just need a clean room GF, close to the hot spots, allowing me to move easily with public transport. My question : has anybody stayed there recently and can give me an update about the status of the rooms ?
secondly : this is my first trip to BKK, any suggestion to lose my thay verginity ???
hope to have good info's
