The Ambo is good value, but make sure you book double and stay in Tower wing which is newer.
Lossing virginty in LOS is (I understand) somewhat easy. Take a stroll to NEP or just take a stroll.....

I'm at the ambassador at the moment, deluxe room on high level tower, I think this is a little too old and dirty (bathroom...), maybe smoking rooms are old ones.
Although I booked as double occupancy, the guard charged me 650 bath for guest because his computer said single room. I had a copy of my email confirmation in my wallet and even if he saw that it was double, he couldn't stop saying "computer never wrong sir, computer never wrong sir". couldn't get ride of it so I paid, today I went to "executive office" (or whatever it is called) and the lady changed it in the famous computer who is never wrong, but will not reimburse my last night charge.
I guess it will OK for next time now, but as I had to gave the name of the lady, not sure what the computer will say if the name is not the same...
will change the hotel after my phuket trip next week

Hey JR, bah sorry for the late answer, I guess it is too late now, I didn't check the board again while in BKK, my laptop crashed and I didn't take the time to go the a net access point.
Anyway, no it was not crowded, I payed my room 1900 baht, it was a deluxe room on the 25th floor.
btw I wasn't harrassed anymore by the guard the next days, but as I came home everydays with the same lady who were finally registered with me, I can not say what would have happened with a different one

I intend to reach Bkk on 15th Oct and am booking a double room in Ambassador Tower Wing. I intend to check in with my TG, who will very likely wait for me in the lobby. Do I have to enlist her name along with mine and secondly what happens when somebody else walks in with me on a different date?
Any experiences?

I got "cheated" by the ambassador because when I checked in I gave only my name, even if I booked a double via internet, I guess this is because of that that the guard found it as single in his computer when he controlled me.
I suggest you register your TGF as well, so u secure a double room in the guard's computer which is never wrong, then it should be ok if u come after with someone else. U will even get a double breakfast ticket, but believe me, do not take breakfast here !!!

You could also just add the TG's name to your booking when you check-in, and they'll check her ID and get her to sighn in with you.
You shouldn't have any problems with a different girl on a differnt day.

But PW whats wrong with the breakfast in Ambassador?
I have stayed in Manhattan earlier and the breakfast was good in my opinion. There is lot of noise around Manhattan as I gather from the Forum hence the Ambassador.
I am moving through a travel agent whom I pay on arrival. Not giving CC number on the net

hmmm, maybe I'm too "difficult" but I didn't like the breakfat for few reasons. First, it's a very big room, very noisy, which gave me the impression to enter my company restaurant, and as I avoid it as often as I can, I was unpleased to find it again during my holydays 
The hotel was not crowded when I was there, and few tables were available but no one was cleaned from those who had eat earlier. I went there only one time though, so maybe it was just bad luck...
Last point, which is maybe a good point for a lot of people, is that they cook a lot of differents breakfast type to satisfy all the customers from all the countries, and hmmm, let's say the smell of all these food in the morning did disurb me a little, but well, I'm french u know and I'm used to nice smell of cofee and warm "croissants", so maybe it's just me who is a little bit too "picky" (not sure of the word "picky", but I think I remember a US friend who told me something like that when I didn't like some some food).
Anyway don't follow my opinion, try it one time and if u don't like, there is some "cofee shop" around with good breakfasts, especially one I liked on the other side of Suk road, unfortunately I don't remember the name.

Hi PW,
That was a very honest reply from you. I think you did not like the smell of strange foods being served. Could be the Indian stuff. Lot of Indian groups in that hotel.
I know how it smells to those not used to the stuff. I am at times not used to it being an Indian though. As long as the hotel is girl friendly and the Ambassador Tower Wing is good I am happy. Food can wait.
