I booked through siam-hotel.com. Maybe not the cheapest, but taxes and breakfest included.
The location is the only thing I have against this hotel. It's not that far from Sukhumvit (4 min. walk), but the street is very narrow, so watch out for the traffic.
Great hotel. Very comfy bed, great pool area.

As of this week, the Royal President is doing lots of construction work in the stairwells of the Park Wing installing wiring. Mornings beginning at 9:00am and continuing for about 2 hours in the morning, there is constant drilling that resonates throughout the entire Park Wing. They are drilling into concrete so the noise in nearby rooms is unbearable (I am not exaggerating) and it can be heard throughout the hotel. As I speak, they are drilling on the 4th floor and it is loud enough to wake you up here on the 11th floor. It is loud enough that a front desk staff person told me that they get at least 20 complaints per day. However, there is no quiet rooms to move people to because the entire hotel hears this.
In typical Thai fashion, they stop the drilling when enough people complain after 2 hours, however, they say this delays the project. The expect this to continue for 3 more weeks.
If you are booked into the Royal President Park wing in the next month, and you plan to be in your room after 9:00am, I suggest you make other arrangements.

Asia Travel’s web site (http://www.asiatravel.com/thailand/royalpresident/index.html) now states that there is a charge of 350 baht for overnight guests at the Royal President Apartments. I have never noticed this charge on Asia Travel’s site before but I still can’t see any mention of the charge on the Royal President’s own pages (http://www.royal-president.bangkok.com/index.htm).
Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of these charges? Is the Royal President still guest friendly?

Has anyone checked out the 24-hour in house (hotel room only) massage service?
I stayed there with a GF a while back so was unable to try it out.
Saw some nice looking ladies sitting about outside the gym area who looked like they were massage girls.
Any one tried it out?

Tried to book the Royal Presidents Sapphire Suites for a short stay I have planned next month. The rate on their website is 2150+10%SVC, so made the initial enquiry and was told all their Sapphire Suites are fully booked!
They politely referred me to the GP - nope, I can do better than that - I contacted the PS as their website stated 2800baht +10%SVC for the Premier Suite.
The reply from the PS was that this was a special promotional rate for June -- errr your website says valid from 1st March - 30th June 2005!!!.
I wrote back pointing this out and that due to the confusion caused by their emails and what their website states, I had made a provisional booking with centrepoint Suk 10 for the rate of 2600net per night...
The PS returned my email stating I could have the premier suite (room only) for 2600 inclusive of all taxes for the two nights I required!.....
Seems like I got a good deal there... and the moral of the story, it pays to enquire!
