Hello, As this is my first visit to LOS in April, I have booked the President Solitaire on Soi 11 (a part of the group that runs Grand President). I have booked a double room. My question 1. Is this hotel guest friendly? 2. Will there be necessary security checks to protect the guest? 3. Will they allow escorts to come up by themselves? Regards iamcollboyin a.k.a Dennis the Menace

I stayed at the President Solitaire last year and can't recommend it highly enough, although I notice they've stopped doing the promo deal I had last time. In answer to your questions; 1. Yes. 2. Security guard at the lift will take your girls id card (if it's in the evening, they don't bother during the day). 3. Not sure. They let one girl up to the room unaccompanied but I'd spent a couple of days with her so it might have been because they remembered her.

Yes, but not as many as some Hotels 3. Will they allow escorts to come up by themselves? Not normally without ringing you first Regards iamcollboyin a.k.a Dennis the Menace

I staid at President Solitaire for 15 days in July 05. I sent a mail to enquiry@presidentsolitaire.com saying how long I would like to stay and wanted a price for a Premier Suite and that I noticed their Internet-deal had expired. Reply: Dear Mr. Erik, First of all, thank you very much for your interests toward the President Solitaire! Since July is our peak season so, the best that we can offer if THB 2,800++ include daily breakfast only. Please rest assure that this is the best offer because our corporate rate for premier suite is THB 3,500 net room only. Should you require any further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at all time. Looking forward to an opportunity of serving you in the near future. Yours sincerely, XXXXX Asst. Director of Sales I went for it, as I really wanted to take a closer look at this hotel. Pros
- Very nice, big rooms. Nice setup with TV in front of bed. Big bathroom with separate shower and bathtub.
- 42 inch TV with DVD player.
- Great service, salutes everywhere.
- Nice pool with underwater music (classical music)
- Guest friendly
- WIFi internet access in rooms.
- Newspaper at door in the morning.
- The kitchen is fully equipped.
- Very good maids. They folded my clothes to perfection.
Cons
- The girls must go back into an alley to get their ids back. I used to follow the girls back there, just to make a point of it. I'm sure that will not make a difference.
- Food is not all that fantastic. The breakfast is OK if you like omelettes (I do).
- The key card stopped working for me two times. The last time was at 10:30 at checkout day. I went out to eat breakfast with my girl, then returned to a locked door. "You check out today, yes?" the girl at the desk asked me. "Yes, but I have to be able to get my luggage first?".
- The pool area is not the perfect place for sunbathing. It got a narrow strip of sun midday, and at peak hours you should be lucky to get any.
- It seems a bit pricey for what you really get.
- The location is a bit off-Broadway (read: Sukhumvit), although I kind of liked the area. And it's much better than, say, President Park in Soi 24.
- Very slow elevators.

... this one has fallen from the radar a good long while, but worth a revisit. ... maybe a contender for BEST VALUE right now, their Solitaire Suite is THB 2,803 on LateStays.com (http://www.latestays.com/)... all-in rate. ... get this - 80 metres2!... very nicely re-furnished... hardwood floors (not veneer), kitchenette, free Wifi, 42" screen plasma TV, separate sitting area (or, f***ing area if you are a bend 'em over a couch kinda guy), so-so gym, great little pool, four-poster bed (for her to hold onto when you bring the rodeo indoors)... take a look at this place... President Solitaire ... guest friendly... located at the end of Soi 11, about 500 metres from Nana BTS, with a shuttle tuk-tuk available around-the-clock... proximate to a good slection of restautants, and the adult entertainment venues... buffet breakfast is a B/B+, but I am not there for eggs and bacon. ... locally owned, and operated by a very attentive staff at an international 4-star level... except for sending my hard boiled eggs back 2 times before the chef understood "hard", I've no complaints. ... recommended... definately, recommended. ... also, they have lower rates, in the low-mid THB 2,000's for standard rooms, none of which are smaller than 50 metres2, but not as nicely re-furbished.

I have stayed there recently, I mean President Solitaire and here is my personal views & suggestions to others. Please book directly to the hotel, you get a better deal. I booked thru Asia web, and the hotel Manager almost refused to accept the responsibilities in someway. I booked thru internet and Asia web had deducted 10% of the total payment. While checking in, Hotel staff told me that 10% is the fee for Asia web, and they have nothing to do with it. At this point, I thought, I made a blunder. But, at the end, after checking in the room, have once again checked the rates I paid to Asia web, and the rate offered by President Solitaire are different. So, no more thru Asia web direct, or any other agent,at least for this hotel, if at all I come & stay. Now, this is an ordinery hotel Apartment, certainly not a 5 star. Food choice is just ordinery. Breakfast is moderately okay. Very Far from Main road. Tuk Tuk service is only available upto the end of soi only. And to get a taxi from that end is a real headache. I booked in club floor, room was very good, spacious. Bathroom was good as well. free Internet, and no problem with the joiner, as I booked double occupancy from the begining. Immediate after checking in, I received a letter from the management that if I wish to extend my stay in this hotel, I should inform them one day before my check out date. I ran to the reception, but they could not provide me any extension of days, and told me once again the same song..."Had you booked with us directly, we could have given you room, solly sir....". The best part in President solitaire is Ananda Spa. I booked in advance for the full treatment for the couple.... it was just fantastic. We had good fun,and privacy in Sauna, Steam room & Spa...massage in the same room. So I booked again for the following day. If not for anything else, I will go there only for Ananada spa. It is worthwhile to spend money for 2.5 hours...together with your GF and enjoy the atmosphere.
