IM still not sure where im staying.. and was just wondering if there is anyway cheap way I can get a good room once im in BKK.. last time I was here I went to the travel agent to book a ticket, and the agent gave me a discount ticket for a hotel right there..
could I just walk into a travel agent once in SUKIMVIT and just get the best room deal?

yep, you could do that. Or you could hit the internet cafe at Coffee World right around the corner from Nana Plaza and book online. Then walk/skytrain to your hotel and get the internet price you just booked.

If you know you're way around that might be ok. But if you land late like a lot of flights do a little before midnight searching on the internet might not be a great option. I've used the hotel reservations desk on a couple of occasions. I think a lot of times they are pretty close to the best walk up deals you can get as compared to walking up to a hotel reception desk. The internet rates and hotel reservation specialists online probably have the best rates prior to arrival. If you land during the daytime you might take the chance and try to find a great rate, but for me it's easier to book in advance or use the hotel reservations desk at airport or call the hotel directly when I land. I tend to overpack and it's a pain walking around with my luggage.
There's plenty of research here for hotels and you can try to narrow a few down price, amenity and location wise. If you don't like what you book for a couple of nights you can shop around on your own and deal with travel agents. I used to just come and call a few select hotels and just go in, but the last couple of trips it hasn't been that easy as for some reason, alot of my favorites were completely booked and that isn't a good feeling.
