Guys, I was wondering:
Do "joiner/guest" fees apply if for some reason you were able to bring in a guest during the daylight hours/early evening and kept the person there?
Would it matter if the lady didnt stay overnight?

I've seen some hotels (e.g. Windsor Suites), that had a stated policy of no guests after 11 PM. However, how are you going to convince the security person this is the case? I brought a girl in at 4 PM, and they extorted an additional 800 baht from me anyway. Hense, now I always avoid hotels with a joiner fee, there are plenty of guest friendly hotels to pick from in all price categories.
The sex police may be more attentive around bar closing time, but there's no guarantee.

Nice thought but if they are gonna hit you with a joiner fee the time of day would not matter.

Was hit by a joiner fees in First Hotel at 4 pm. The girl was not to stay overnight. Will never ever stay there.

It's quite difficult for a hotel to check if the girl is really out of your room after 11pm (staff change etc).
And it's called a joiner fee, it really doesn't matter if you take her up to the room at 4 or 11 pm.
No pensioner discounts here! Perhaps you can deduct the joiner fee from the girl's fee and ask her 'Happy Hour Mai?'

Joiner fees as well as just about anything in Thailand are negotiable. Some of the larger hotels in BKK will probably not bend the rules as there are usually people standing in line behind you that will take your room if you leave. I once told the receptionist at check in that I would not pay joiner fees and if this was a problem I would look elsewhere for my hotel. This particular hotel normally charged a very minimum joiner fee of like 100 baht or so but even that seemed high. Made sure she wrote on my registration card NO JOINER FEES. Just ask when you check in and be prepared to walk away. Sometimes it works, sometimes you look for a new hotel.

Yes, if the hotel charges a joiner fee then it will apply every time you take a girl to your room. The only exception would be if the girl actually checked in with you when you first arrive. Simple solution, do not use these hotels.

Right on. Some hotels need the girls name at reservation, even checking in together is not good enuff! You will get lumbered with joiners.
