OK, so I have spent the last three days searching the forums for a mid-upper range hotel ($60-$90/night) in the Sukhumvit road area.

Last time I was in LOS I stayed in the Grand President (in the Topaz Studio) and I was so annoyed by the room, that I actually left LOS since I had a bad time. The room was extremely dark during the day (just one small window that was looking onto a building a few yards accross), the A/C was broken, so it was either freezing or humid in the room, and the floor was made of stone, so you always had cold feet in there.

So, this time, I want to have a room that is bright, the A/C needs to hold the temperature I set and not turn the room into a freezer and I want carpeted floors. I don't mind spending a few bucks, but I am also not going to shell out more than $90/night on this. If it's less, I won't complain either.

It seems like the Amari Boulevard would fit the bill (about $80 for a Superior Room), but there are conflicting messages about the girl friendlyness of that place. I will book a "double" room, but I don't want to end up paying someone another 800 Bath or so everytime I decide to bring someone back with me.

If anyone has any advice on a clean, comfortable (not basic), well run, girl friendly hotel in the Sukhumvit area, I'd appreciate your input. It seems that there are some very cheap places and some pretty expensive places that are girl - friendly, but little in between. Please provide recent info, as things seem to change from time to time (some of the posts from 2002/03 are not accurate anymore).

Also, if anyone has a suggestion on a hotel in Pattaya (same requirements - near the beach if possible), I would appreciate that input as well, since I'd like to spend a few days out there.

Thanks guys!

Try to use Priceline. If you are lucky you will get a 5star hotel for less than 90 bucks. It seems that the JW Marriot is going for about 70-75 bucks plus tax and fees. Just look at the Priceline topic in this section. Another great website is Biddingfortravel, where you can get a short overview of the current prices.
Majestic Grande looks great and their promotion rate is ok. Even the Majestice Suites is ok, best location, good prices and 100% girl friendly.
Just do some research at the board and you will get your answers.

I used to always go to the Central Hotel on beach road that I always found reasonably good took a suite low season it was fine old but fine. No problem with geust, took id. Although one LB got turned away one night I asked my gal why "ladyboy boxing" was the reply, nothing new there.
This time I'm going for Areca Lodge due to price and recommends from bros on this site it does look good. Having worked in a hotel for a while I can say for certain that the only difference between a standard and superior room is the price. There is a lot of info about hotels on this site and on the web time searching is time well spent. An alternative is Residense Garden very nice a short bhat bus ride out of town but very nice apartment better than most hotels only no bath tub. I liked that a lot but wanted somthing more central but Residense is VV good check web site no jioner fee no id. Will be in Patt Areca lodge from 13th March PM me or check posting for hotel update.

Try the Royal Twin Palace in Pattaya. It is directly across from the backside of the Marriot. I got a deluxe room - (ask them to show u first) for 1250 Baht that had a Ocean view. Typically its 1800 baht however if you pay a one time membership of 350 Baht for they give you a deluxe room for the price of a superior. The rooms are very clean, large, nice pool, great views and real nice lobby. The location is great.
