I'm planning to book a double at XXXXX hotel, travelling solo, but is it better to say 2 adults or 1 adult will be staying??

If you are booking a double, it is for 2 people, as in double occupancy. Unless it is one of those odd places that let you book double sized and twin beds online. King all the way.

I always specify 2, but request a single bed. Some hotels will charge a joiner fee unless you specify two adults. I ran into this at the Arnoma and Tawana Ramada. At the Arnoma, they let the girl in without the extra charge after checking the registry. At the Tawana Ramada, they let the girl register on the spot without a fee, then fortunately didn't stop me again. I didn't get extra breakfast coupons at either place. At Royal Parkview, I was charged once for a joiner, even though I had paid slightly more by booking for 2 people.
