Hello, this is my first posting here. I will go to Thailand in July 22 for the first time.
Tai-Pan seems to be a good place to stay, but I have heard that they are not guest friendly anymore. Is this right?

The Tai-Pan is and is not guest friendly. I booked a double thru the internet and when I arrived alone, I told them I had a double. They said it was a single I had booked, but luckily I had a printout of my invoice stating I had paid for a double. They then begin to question me where my other half was and I said my wife would be flying in the next day, since it was past midnight already. The bell hop who brought my luggage to my room informed me normally there is a "joiner fee", and I believe it was 500 baht.
BTW the Manhattan has a similar policy, 471 baht joiner fee if you're not checked in as a double.
