Wondering if anyone has stayed in Banyan Tree (I think is was a Westin before) lately and if it is a Guest Friendly?
Also, how far is it from Sukhumvit?

I visited the Banyan Tree Phuket last year with Lao Girl, we both checked in no problem. They did grill her a bit about her ago, she looks 16 but is 24, but they were very subtle about it, saying they needed to know her birthday for some sort of gift drawling.

But Banyan seems like a very nice hotel. I have a Thai GF and she has never asked me for a baht or anything else for that matter. Always fixing things for me etc. she evens pays for many of our taxi trips with her own money. Nice sweet girl, though I should take her to Vertigo on her birthday and then have arranged a room for us two there afterwards for a couple of days. Then send her onto all the spa she can handle in the breaks :p
Vertigo is a very nice resturant and they have a dresscode OK so what? It is a big city! I dont eat there everyday so then I can put on something else than a shorts and a t-shirt.

Stay at BYT regularly on business. Great staff, and no worries with TGF. Prob best that she dresses reasonably smart casual, eg Jeans/nice tshirt are ok.
Fantastic hotel, always ask for city view rooms.
Walk to subway for 2 min ride to sukh.
My TGF usually now stays for the whole week. Sleeps daytime when I am at work, then ready for action in PM
sleep few hours then out 8-12nightime.
As I prefer apartment style, I also have stayed at Natural Ville in soi Langsuan - $95 AUD per night, and rooms magnificently modern...

Most definitely no problem. I have stayed there many times in the past before I moved here and never been stopped, even with BG in jeans and t-shirt. After midnight the reception is very quiet and the staff just look the other way (very discreet). The Patpong girls know the hotel too, so I'm sure there are plenty of precedents.
If I ever was asked I would just say that we were going up to Vertigo on the top floor for a drink (you use the same lifts).

So, let me get this right. They are definitely not guest-friendly, but they don't mind you bring guests even and even discretely look away should you want to bring in anything between one and 40 girls?
And they have a dress code, but don't mind if you wear jeans and teeshirts.
Well.. that's cleared that up.

At the Banyan Tree I had an amusing (but could have been disastrous) experience of how sometimes service can be too good.
On the last morning of my previous stay, after I had dispatched my overnight companion from Soi Cowboy, I noticed that she had left her watch on the nightstand. After deciding that it was probably worth less than the tip I gave her, and heading off to the airport anyway, I left it for some lucky chambermaid.
Lo and behold, this time when the bellboy brought my case up to the room he proudly announced "And here's something you left last time, Sir" and handed over the ladies watch. Alright as it happens, but imagine if my wife had been with me (as she sometimes is on these trips). I would have had a hard time explaining that one away!
