Guys,
I'm still looking for an upmarket place in BKK, preferably near Silom/Maesak for very frequent travels there. Needs to be VERY guest friendly and it hasn't been very easy to find so far. Either serviced appartment or hotel.
After a frustrating experience in meritus Suite last night, I'm back in Saphirtel Silom 22/1 where guests can do pretty much what they want but even the biggest rooms on the top floor are far from upscale. Pretty clean though.
I'd like to settle for larger rooms, 60 sqm up, the bigger the better.
Budget would depend upon the place but around 5000 per day should do ( pay 800 at saphirtel, if you try there just say a french friend quoted you this rate, gets even cheaper for week stay. All friends I sent there were satisfied with the place but remember the view is very grim from most rooms)
Basically I come to BkK about 20 times a year at the moment for mostly 1 to 5 nights stays and would appreciate very much any information toward a more satisfactory place to stay in. Again within walking distance from Holliday In Silom would be easier.

Why not just stay at Holiday Inn Silom? Rates as low as $53.60 USD pop up and regular rates as low as $67.00 USD with breakfast are there as well. Add 17% tax (wow that is a huge tax, I must say).
The cons however is they do ask for girls IDs and charge for guests. Also the BTS is a hot, sweaty 10 minute walk. But I'm sure if you want to spend 5000 baht per day and ask to pay in cash for guests, you'll still be under 5000 baht there. It's a nice hotel with what prices should be for those big hotels.
The big pro for Holiday Inn Silom is the 100 baht, A-100 bus, both too and from the airport. No need for a taxi driver at all.
