Hi all. I'm a Bkk Tonite virgin...glad to be aboard.
I'm looking for updates on hotels on or around Suk between B750 - B1200, with pool.
Past posts have suggested;
Honey. (stayed there before....ok)
Woraburi. (seems nice, if a little far up Soi 4)
Miami. (get the impression its run down)
Stable Lodge
Royal Asia Lodge.
Is anyone able to give an update on these places, or suggest others. How would they compare to Nana?
Would I get a discount for staying 10 nights?

The Federal Hotel, Sukhumvit Road, Soi 11.
Owned by the same people who own The Honey.

The rooms are small and worn, but the pool is nice, the food is good, the staff is honest, and it is very girlfriend friendly.
YMMV.

The Promenade on Soi 8 (50m further up than Stable Lodge and on the other side of the Soi).
Offer them 10k for 10 nights - they'll take it. Nightly rate is 1200. Better than Woraburi and in a much better location. Stable Lodge has a better pool but I prefer the rooms at the Promenade. Royal Asia has always been too far up the Soi for me. Enjoy.

Having searched there does not appear to be any thread about the Promenade. I cannot recall any previous mention of the place. Judging by website it appears to be a pretty decent hotel, in room safe, gym, good selection of TV channels, good location. I note in booking form you are asked how many people are travelling. Do I detect a possibility they might look for a joiner fee?

I have only stayed there with the wife but doubt a joiner fee is policy there. We certainly weren't the only farang-thai couple there. It is the overflow hotel for Stable Lodge (they get a 200 baht kickback for each customer their staff brings through the door) so would HAVE to be guest friendly. You can get a walk in rate of 1000 if you ask for it - the posted 1200 is to cover the kickbacks - the staff chatted with the wife about all this.
Don't expect the hotel you see on the website - maybe 15 years ago - the place is clean but under no illusions that its glory days are over. The pool is okay, the gym equipment is old (and rusty) and the in room safe is probably that metal box lying in pieces in the cupboard by the door. TV reception will vary from room to room no doubt and your TV remote is issued to you with your room key. This hotel is unpretentious to say the least.
