I usually stay at Amari or JW
Will be trying out this hotel next week.
The general manager was kind enough to email me back to my question on guest fees:
Regarding Guest Policy:- We do not have a policy of charging any extra for overnight guests, however, we do request for, your security, that the ID Card of the overnight (unregistered guest) be left with our security staff.
If there is any other assistance or information required, please do not hesitate to contact me. Look forward to seeing you.

they only take ID (which is good for my safety), no joiner fee or something and beside the staff of MJG is just great, can only recommend...

Grande doesn't charge for extra guests. But I've stayed at over 30 different hotels in Bangkok and only Amari has ever charged me a "joiner fee". I will never stay at Amari again and I'm disappointed in anyone who does. I know you can book a double at Amari and not have a problem, but that's absolute crap having to do that. Especially since they don't tell you about it upon initial check-in.
Grande is nice, but I think 2900 for a small room and 3900 for the size up from that is a little too much.

The night guard keeps the girls' ID cards in a shoebox. I came 'home' late one night and there must have been 25 cards in that box.
(Edited the next day) Sorry, I was talking about Majestic Suites (near Nana Plaza).

Could not agree with u more. Upscale serviced apartments like Emporium and Centre Point are much better options for the same price or less.
Other five star hotels can be obtained via Price-Line or travel agencies for less as well.
