The Swissotel Le Concorde Hotel Bangkok located 204 Ratchadapisek Rd Huaykwang is 100% not girl friendly. The hotel is nice as I paid premium price for a an executive room (supposedly 1 or 2 persons). Can't fault the service on the executive floors.

I arranged to meet a lovely Karaoke fgirl rom Poseidon after she got off work. She calls from the lobby at 0230 dressed conservatively. I come down and I am descended upon by security pointing me to the check in counter where they say I have to pay 1000 baht! They also photocopy her ID and hassel her. Showing her ID is reasonable, but this was saying "don't bring a girl to this hotel you didn't check in with. This girl was pretty and did not look like trash. It's funny because this hotel is ground zero for dozens of upscale MPs, etc...Nataree, Emannuele, Subway are right across the freekin' street.

Really similar incident happened to me at Novotel Lotus Soi 33 several years ago.Surprising because I was a frequent guest and the Dead Painter's bars fill the street.

Additional revenue, ok. But still no reason for bad behavior of night security staff.

Needless to say, I never returned.

My company is offering discount vouchers for Swissotel in Bangkok. Not sure if it is a specific hotel since there are two locations in Bangkok or the exact price per night but most likely in the 50% off range. I will be staying with the tgf and will be checking in with her so no problem there with a joiner fee. In the past my company has offered the Landmark at $29 per night so I'm hoping for a similar discount. My question: Which location is better for getting around in Bangkok? Traffic and location to BTS or MRT. If given a choice which would you choose and why?

2 Wireless Road or 2 Wireless Road,
Bangkok 10330, Thailand

or

204 Ratchadapisek Road,
Huay Kwang, Bangkok 10320,
Thailand

There is Swissotel Le Concorde, formerly the Merchant Court, at the Ratchadapisek Road address. The opening post refers to this hotel.

There is also Swissotel Nai Lert Park, formerly the Hilton.

Swissotel Le Concorde fka Merchant Court is listed at the bottom of the BKK forum page as girl friendly.

However, the ownership changed in July 2005 from Singapore to America, the new owners being Colony Capital - see link here.

So my guess would be, at least until the Americans settle in, what Shelver said represents a new policy for a new owner. Probably the Swissotel/Merchant Court should be taken off the forum's list of girl friendly hotels for now.

Okay. I can get vouchers for this hotel through my company for $59 per night. This includes all taxes and fees. I am considering staying at this hotel during my October trip instead of my usual sleeping spot of Majestic Suites. Anyone stayed here before. I'm curious about convenience to the skytrain or subway. The tgf will be with me the entire time and will check in with me so "girl friendly" is not an issue. Since I will only be in Thailand for 5 days I may stay here the entire time instead of the car ride down to Hua Hin. Thoughts, comments please.

The Embassy is on Wireless Road if that has any influence on your decision. I don't know about the El or whatever it is called.

Isn't the the hotel where David Carridine just killed himself? If they are not girl friendly, maybe that's the reason he had to resort to strange self masterbation that resulted in his death.

Sorta stealing this thread since I can't start one for myself and wanted to throw in my two cents for the swissotel park nai lert. Just got back from a 17 day stay(no I did not stay in the suicide suite). Excellent hotel. I got a discount since I work in the industry so can't quote rates but enjoyed my stay immensely. Beautiful layout but maybe a little too girl friendly since my girls never had to give ID and I brought back several. And for the locals on the board they have a Mon-Sat lunch buffet from 11:30 am-2:30pm that charges 5bht per minute. Standard but large and tasty selection. Nothing negative to put in so definately would recommend.

Guys this thread is for the Swissotel on Ratchadapisek road, not on Wireless.

The one on Ratchada is not guest friendly.

The one on Wireless is guest friendly.

Tim,

Are there any nice hotels on Rachada that are girl friendly? I know that the Pallazo is, but anything better than that?

Thanks
