I noted that http://www.asiarooms.com quoted 957 baht for a room at the Bangkok Sahara Hotel at Sukhumvit Soi 5.
Anybody stayed there before and any comments on this hotel ?

Well I live here and I have never even heard of this place. It looks good though and the price of $25 is a good price.
I go to Soi 5 alot as I frequent Gullivers and Foodland there. Never have seen the place. Strange !?!
Any other borthers out there know about this hotel ??

Sugggestion. Book for one or two nights. You can always switch to another hotel fairly easily, even in high season (Nov-Feb)

I staid there for 5 years ago, the room were not bad for the price (700 Baht). No problem to bring girls, just let the ID card downstairs to the desk. In 5 years it could change, but I had good experience. I didnt go there anymore as I find better opportunities.
Conclusion: why not

It is on the corner of the Soi that runs between Soi 5 and Soi 3 right opposite Gullivers. It looks very ropey from the outside and I would think that it is used mostly by Middle Eastern folk.

It's a negative star hotel, worse than any Skid Row flophouse and makes the Grace look like an upscale place. The Sahara is very handy, though, if you're looking to score dope by the kilo. Otherwise, it has nothing to recommend it and a lot of reasons to stay away.
