FYI to all cheap charlies (like me)
The wireless internet access from the JW Marriott lobby is free no more. You must buy time from the front desk for x amount of time used on the internet. Does anyone know if this is also true for Westin/Sheraton Grande as well now ?

Sorry Mr. M I don't have a direct answer but if yer a cheap charlie or techie etc., you might be interested to know that you can get a copy of netstumbler, load it into your laptop/pda/LB/etc., and go war drivin' for hotspots.
You could even get yerself a copy of the list of hotspots in bangkok that I posted a URL for earlier. Then you wouldn't even have to wardrive!

yes you can find hotspots everywhere. I was just commenting on the wireless connection that you're supposed to be getting while at the JW Marriott's lobby is not free anymore. This seems to be the trend everywhere as I can signs even in Nana Hotel offering similar deals.
If you scan the local wireless signals, you should be able to get JW Marriott Executive wireless connection for free. I was able to get signals on and off all the way back in Majestic Suite.

What is name for the executive floor wireless? When I have stayed at JW I have been able to pick up many networks but none would allow me to connect.

Last time I stayed I <JW I could pick up landmarks network I used it for free over the weekend but on monday I could not use is anymore maybe a bug in there system

Not to get technical and staying with info for Hotel Services related topics, I'm staying at the Grottino Residence right now and can't pick up any wifi signals from Sheraton or Westin. Not that I need it since Grottino offer the broadband wired internet connection anyway, but just a FYI that the signals are much stronger from JW than Starwood.
