Hello, I UTFSE'd but couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. Is there any hotel (meeting the typical requirements) that can be dealt with on a 100% cash-only basis (i.e. does not even require a credit card at check-in) ?

I stayed at the Stable Lodge Soi 8 this year for three nights paid cash on arrival and they didn't ask for a card as a deposit for the mini bar.

Even if they take a credit card for mini-bar etc, it doesnt get onto your records until the transaction is authorised when you leave, so why worry. I'm sure any hotel in the world would prefer for you to use cash (no credit card surchage for them). What's the point of the question? Credit cards are an optional extra for consumers' convenience, not compulsory.

IMHO you are wrong Scobie, most Hotels want the Credit Card as a form of guarantee that you wont trash the room or do a bunk with their valuable hotel towels etc. Whilst most would gladly accept the cash in liu of a Credit Card at the end of your stay many will not let you check in without them.

Park Hotel (sukhumvit soi 7) only required a 1000 baht refundable cash deposit, and had payment in cash. They still want to see your passport upon registration, however.

Let us see if you are capable of imagining up some super duper reason. Perhaps something beyond the wildest realms of reality, or just something pure and simple.

Duno 'bout your definition of, "...meeting the typical requirements..." but these: Honey Hotel Dynasty Inn asked for a deposit of TB1000 plus I had to pay the room rate in advance. Some of the rooms in the Honey don't have minibars so if you get one of them, you don't have to pay the grand up front. Cheerio PS: None of them asked for a credit card.

I am sure you will find most hotels will accept cash only but you would have to leave a rather large some of money as security. Is it the credit card you do not want seen or the passport? Does make a difference.

there are a few hotels (listed above) where you can get away with out showing either a credit card or passport. but you have to do it gently/firmly. offer the 1000b deposit up front. and offer some form of backup identification (your state's drivers license, library card, something). let us know if you find a place too.
