Since the Pattaya forum seems to be closed, thought I would try my luck here...
Any punters stay at Sugar Hut in Pattaya before?
If so, any impressions appreciated. In particular, wondering how far it is from the nightlife area, and how convenient it is to catch a baht bus etc? Also, girl friendly?
Any info on the above appreciated!

Very nice but pricey. Your own rustic Lanna style bungalow around the pool. Very girl friendly. Only a 5 minute walk up the access road to catch the baht bus on the main road. The food is first class. As is the service.
No facilities other than the pool which non-guests can use if they eat so you tend to get punters and their TGF's using it at lunch time and afternoons. Can be some interesting sights!
A place to stay (or visit) with a special girl friend. I wouldn't bother if I was on my own or for any length of time. For a similar price you could stay at the Dusit or Marriott and be more comfortable.

I have stayed there on several occasions.
It is very nice and very GF. There are perhaps 25 different villas in very 'Thai style' and a total of 3 different pools so you are bound to find you one that gives you a fair bit of privacy.
Having said that:
1. The place is beginning to look very tired. The villas probably havent been renovated for about 5-10 years.
2. It is pretty expensive - certainly for the price of staying there you are unlikely to be the sort of budget traveller that gets a baht bus. You can stay anywhere in Pattaya for the same price.
3. It is in Jomtien which is hardly the main bar area (unless you are gay) but arguably that is a plus.
4. Restaurant is decent but food is very touristy Thai.
If you like secluded villas you are better off at View Talay and if you just like a decent hotel, all the best ones are available at the same price.

These are great replies! Thanks for the very useful info on SG, and also alerting me to the fact that The Pat forum isn't actually cllosed- I think I need a holday!
Every villa is a double at least (no single option) so I thought that was cool but then noticed an addditional guest fee in excess of 1K baht. Wasn't sure if this was a 'joiner fee' of for the 3rd eprson (they had a separate charge for 'extra bed', which supported the 'joiner fee' suspicion) But now that I hear it's GF, I don't care what this fee refers to anymore!
If I do stay there, altho some of the comments and alternatives suggested have me thinking twice (4250 baht a night, I should at l;east think twice, me reckons!), I'll post a report!
