Has anyone stayed at this hotel or know anything about it? How are the rooms, service, etc? Does it have a spa? How is it? What other services does it offer? Massage? etc...? Anything fun in this area? Thanks

Thornny, I recently stayed there in May, 02. It is next to Intercontinental Bangkok (which is much nicer), and also right around the corner from World Trade Center, Gaysorn Plaza (still closed), Erawin Shrine and Panthip Plaza. The hotel itself is OK, the rooms are a little old and nothing luxurious. It was pretty guest friendly when I was there, you walk into the lobby and the conceirge desk is immediately on your left, the front desk is on your right, and you can cut through the lobby bar (straight ahead) and go to the left to your rooms. There is a long walk down some hallways that have tailors, gift shops, salons, etc, then you get to the elevator which is always manned with a security guard. He is pretty harmless, opens the elevators and holds the door for you, I would throw him a tip daily/nightly to assure no problems. I never got stopped when coming back with a girl and didnt get charged for the guest fee (just remember to look respectable enough and behave, general loudness and stumbling in drunk will get you stopped just about anywhere. During the day, the girls had no problems getting to my room unescorted and at night I was usually with them. The staff was very accomodating and helpful, like I said the only bad thing was that the rooms were kind of tired looking. Also, dont forget to check out the painting in the elevator that BK pointed out. Enjoy

Thanks for the feedback, I am a little disappointed as I was told this was a super 5 star hotel, I guess travel agents just like to take you for a ride as well.. Well I will check it out and see how it goes. You are right it isn't a bad price and it seems that area isn't bad either, close the subway and other attractions. Thanks

Hi Don't know about the comparison made here. The group of hotels that own the Royal President don't run Le Meridien - their three hotels/serviced appts in cnntral Bkk are Grand President (soi 11), Royal President (soi 15) and President Park (soi 24). They are pretty luxurious, huge bathrooms etc and for the price (about £29 per night usually) are pretty good value. Of course these don't have "le" in front of their names so I may be talking about completely different hotels here.
