Anyone stayed at the Asia Hotel recently? With the skytrain entrance going directly into the hotel, the negatives re the location aren't so bad any more. Anyone know if it's GF?

If you do stay there, keep your eye [better yet your hands] on your bags at all times. No joke the mafia run a scam where they will disappear from taxi to front desk. Wish I was kidding about this but that is info I got from a good Thai friend.

This is interesting and reminds me of the good old wild and wooly days of Bangkok.
I figure if something like this is going on there.... they must be GF.
When I pass thru the hotel on the skytrain stop, it's obvious that the majority of the guests now are Asian... whereas before it used to be German.
Also the old Thai Airways International office is no longer there : ( I used to go there for quick and efficient Thai International service.

I have stayed there several times, and if you get in early and come in from the BTS onto the second floor (mezzanine level, right above the lobby) and get directly in the elevators to go up - no problem. That entrance is only open until about 10 PM, so it has it's limitations.

I am going to BKK in 2 weeks and thinking of staying at asia hotel. I checked photos of the hotel, they look nice but everyone knows photos always don't tell the truth. So, has anyone stayed there around in 2009 or 2010??
