I will be staying at the Nana Plaza from January 16-26, 2008. My question is: During this time of year, is it necessary to book the room on-line in advance, or just go to the hotel and request a room on the spot?
I do worry that the hotel may be fully booked, but I can easily find some other nearby hotels, such as the Majestic Suites, etc.

Expect some members will talk you outta staying at the Nana Plaza.
My experience hasn't been to positive, of course I only stayed there twice and both were over 2 years ago (they might of remodeled the place and fired some of their staff).
Rooms aren't that great (1200 baht a night as I understand it) and staff seem a little snobbish (IMHO).
Rest. food sucked, though great for picking up late night action after 2 AM.

I assume you mean the Nana hotel. Unless youaretalking about the Nana Plaza INN out on Khao San Road???
Kenny, much better value at many hotels.
Yes I would book ahead,,,for,severalreasons,,
1) Ifyou just showup,,you'll pay"rack-rate",oftenDOUBLE ordinairy rate.
2) You might have to stay way out from sukumvit or in an unfriendly hotel if bookings are high.
May I inquire why the f*** you don't just book now?
http://www.asiarooms.com is a good site,,, sometimes latestays.com have good deals.
Book now and save headaches and extra expense.

Majestic Suites and Nana Hotel are almost never available as walk-in at any time of year. However, you should be able to find a room somewhere on Sukhumvit. Sometimes I'll arrive late night by bus and have always found a walk-in room at Ruamchitt Plaza above Thermae (near Soi 15,short walk to Soi Cowboy) for 1200 baht without breakfast (same rate as online). Guest friendly,large room, small tv (but good channel selection with hbo,espn), if you don't mind the musty smell of the room. In other words, it's such a piss hole that it's always available, but I've banged lots of girls there.
I did get their last room once (smaller, at same price), so it's best to book ahead. I'll be at the Raumchitt Friday night, before moving over to CitiChic.

Just got an email back from AsiaTravel.com and, much to my suprise, the Raumchitt Plaza is fully booked for this Friday, except for their deluxe rooms at 1800 (forget it!), so I'd strongly suggest you book in advance.

How can the staff at a roach hotel be snobbish? Is it because they think they have bigger and better roaches than other hotels?
