Hi
I emailed a few of the cheap Nana area Hotels, Nana, Dynasty etc,
They all want a Credit Card to hold a room since my flight from the USA arrived after 6pm.
Are the hotels really that full or is it just a way to have me make a "commitment"
What do you think ?
PS: I am wary of giving my CC info over an non secured website for only 1500 baht

I would not do it as well. Some employee writing down your credit card details on a piece of paper. Not good especially in Thailand. Suggest you book via a hotel's site with ssl encryption.

Yes Saucytim is right!
You could just get a taxi to say Soi 7/1 same Soi as eden club and just lob at the hotel on the left at the end of the Soi
they always have rooms about 700bht a night or there's others opp above the bars, than the next day walk 3 mins to Soi 4 and check out the hotel of your choice?
You won't have a problem finding a room !

An alternative location is the Royal Asia Lodge in Soi 8. You can write to them and they will book your room and hold it for you. They do not even ask you for your credit card details. And it is not expensive either: approx 1680 baht.

I'm staying at Sofitel Sukhumvit Soi 6 at the moment - I normally stay in higher class hotel, but I must admit to being very impressed with room, facilities, staff and location. They also charge at end of stay - worth a try for those bros who prefer more than a damp smelling Sukhumvit shag pad.

Thanks. We just got it yesterday. It will be online later today. No bathtub and only shower. Quite nice though. Still think Darjelling is better at 1700 Baht/night. They have a bathtub there as well. Free internet as well.

Looking at the prices, I think its a decent place for the money before 1 January 09.
From January 01 onwards, I reckon they are bloody ambitious if they think they will get over 2000 Baht per night for their Standard room. Internet not free, no real facilities to speak off. A complimentary tuk tuk ride away to the Bts, which tells me its far.
However, the major problem I foresee for many people is the lack of a bathtub. I deal with hundreds of people every month and one thing thats important is a bathtub. Ten guesses why?????? 5555
Anyhow, a hotel like the Town Lodge, with Standard rooms at just about 1,140 Baht per night in perfectly acceptable. However a hotel at over 2000 Baht per night without one is unacceptable for many as well. The hotel has spent money on the nice duvets and other room amenities.
They shoud have put in a bathtub. May be they couldn't do it as its a converted office building.
Finally I know where I would spend 1700 Baht with a location so near to the Bts and new rooms, a bathtub and free internet. That place wins hands down.
