No comparison, except for location the Conrad is superior in every way. Very competitive price at the moment as well ($100 nt on Expedia inc. B'fast) I paid 1000 baht "upgrade" to corner room, including wifi. My logic was the wifi was 750 and I was gonna pay that anyway, so $8 (250) for a little more room seemed reasonable. My strategy was to find another place after 4 nts, and with every intention of moving to either Le Meridien or JWM I found myself iced out of availability/rates when I tried to book the night before moving. Too smart by half!

So I punted and took a Exec floor at the Westin knowing it was an ideal location for my last few days. What a mistake. The gym is claustrophobia inducing, put 4 people in there working out you feel like your in an elevator with a chinese tour group! Carpets need changing, the Lounge is meager, as is the food offered, the elevator system is a hassle. I booked on Expedia ($144 wifi/b'fast) and when I had trouble connecting the help voice told me, "Internet not included with Expedia, you must pay more". Didn't argue, cause as she spoke I Connected, and I already had the Login Codes. Checked the Expedia page, I was right. I've learned not to argue when theres no upside, and no downside.

Positives? The Concierge (the short well dressed/coiffed one) and the cold towels by the front desk on return. Also the bed, though not the equal to the Conrad, which as 1 girl told me, "Pillows bigger than me"!!!
Live and learn, next time I seal the deal prior to last minute.

Current Personal Ratings (YMMV) In Order
1st Tier Le Meridien, JWMarriott, Conrad,
2nd Tier Pullman, Park Plaza, Westin

Thanks for this. I usually stay across from the Westin at the SGS (or sometimes at the JW Marriott as well) and every so often I'm tempted to try the Westin. I guess I'll stick with my tried and true choices.

Some of the TGs seem to really admire the open style bathrooms at the Conrad, but when up in BKK I tend still to stick to the JW Marriott...where I suppose OT has been staying since the place was built.

The loyal staff at the JW continue to be very friendly, but the lack of customers at the moment, except for Gulf Arab families, is a bit sad.

The Conrad is absolutely one of the best Hotels I have stayed at in Bangkok. First Class and 5 Star all the way

JWM appears to be not very busy at the moment but it is difficult to find an exceptional rate, I used to stay there via Priceline, but that is not available these days.

I once got a great rate for the Westin, I think that may have been Priceline, I did like the bed and location.

Of course I like the 5*s but if I cannot find a great rate it looks like City Lodge 19 again and give the extra money to the ladies of the night.

Have not stayed there in 3 years but stayed there about 12 times from 2004-2007 and always got the exec 1br suite. I found the rooms to be very nice and much bigger than the standard rooms in the conrad. Back then, I used to get these 1 br suites (about 700sq ft) for about 80-120$ a night depending on the time of year. I agree that the gym was small (conrad's is much nicer but both do not compare with the JW's Gym and spa) but the clubroom was nice and the staff always knew me by name and treated me and my friends extremely well. At the time it was newly renovated and the location to the BTS/MRT/suk was extremely convenient as well as the TOPS downstairs. Sad to hear if the Westin has gone downhill since then. Stopped going to the Conrad originally because I used to be Hilton Gold but so was everyone else and the rooms at the time were 2.5x the price at the time. With my free upgrade to a suite and exec privileges, it was a no brainer at the time.

The Conrad is an excellent hotel but it location is terrible. My favourite is the SGS, great location nice rooms and friendly staff.

I have to agree. I have stayed in both the Conrad and Westin, and, preferred the Westin due to the location. JWM is still the top one for me.

OT stayed again at the JW Marriott in January. The executive floor suites have been nicely renovated and, of course, the executive lounge staff are as sweet as ever. If it wasn't for the lounge staff and ample meals I probably would stay up the street at the Sheraton Grande.
