Have a couple of days for a mini vacation. My girlfriend & I have seen most of Thailand. Can anyone recommend a place outside of Bangkok within 2 1/2 hours driving? We would like it to be romantic but not boring. A "famous" place that we have visited is O K; but both of us have not traveled in Thailand for some time. Open for suggestions...

Try Hua Hin or Cha Am. Nice Sea Side Resorts. Van is 2 1/2 hours to Hua Hin. 2 1/4 to Cha Am. Fare 180 Baht. Taxi around 1600 to 2000. Depends on your Thai_lol. PM me for details if you want.

How is the nightlife in Hua Hin? Does it compare to Pattaya or Phuket? One last thing! In Mid Oct; Is it still raining in the SOUTH WEST?

There's 50 or 60 bars with BGs and 90% of them are butt-ugly. Not that many without them. This is a beach you wanna bring sand to ! Great seafood all over. My favorite is on the beach 2 miles south of town. Name I forget. Look for the skinny 80' Buddha on the rocks and the blue umbrellas. Best place in Thailand if you golf. Real bad music at the Hilton populated with FLs. Beaches are nice enough, but not jaw dropping. Personally, I'd drive another hour and do Koh Chang. That place is spectacular ! Check out Hua Hin After Dark. They know a hell of a lot more than I do. wj

Hua Hin is a BYOB place. Bring Your Own Babe-lol
Hua Hin has had rain every day for last couple days. About a hour and then Sun.
Lots of great Hotel deals as LOW LOW Season is here.
Great places to eat.
Bring your own date and this is the place to relax.
Night life- Hua Hin is not the place for wild times.

Last three years have been in Hua Hin mid October. Sunny days maybe rained for 1 hour on one day per trip.

You could try Kanchanaburi famous for Bridge on River Kawai. You could go trekking. The river is great.
