An under 3 hour cab ride (2200 baht) - great downtown area but bring your TGF (despite a Lolitas branch.)
THE HYATT- a beautiful hotel- but they lost me on the small things- Stayed in expensive exec room which has it's own area of property- BUT for some reason- the breakfast is much smaller than the cheaper rooms in main hotel- the internet computers cost money even for exec room- all rooms are very small - they should have a free shuttle rather than having to pay 150 baht for taxi every trip to downtown. After one night fled to
SOFITEL- this is the grand OLD hotel completely re-done. Great service- large beach- walk to MANY restaurants downtown- huge pool -great breakfast- best of the bunch.

SOT, isn't the SOFITEL next to the Hilton? If so wasn't the million roosting birds and their noise at sunset irritating. I could hear them on the 17th floor.
Was there a little over a week ago, Bkk to Hua Hin taxi I paid 1,800 bht. On return I always hire a car from Hua Hin, better car and cheaper. On the street near the police station and McDonalds, I rented a car/driver SUV for 1,600 bht to BKK. The rentals near the beach are higher.

CE- not one bird- guess they get a better rate at Hilton- might even include cocktail hour !!
I always use a great taxi driver who speaks perfect English- its the one time I can truly talk to TGF- guess I pay premium for translation service !!

Just returned from a weekend at Hyatt Hua Hin. Took my TGF Ming, so did not have to worry about going out. I am a long time client of Hyatt so they upgraded me to a suite. We had a balcony with view of ocean and gardens.
In my case, room too big. The regency Club offered breakfast and cocktails. I personally did not like the food offered, but it was plentiful and fresh. The Regency Club staff was attentive and in typical Thai fashion “charming”.
Ming was very happy as there was not one good looking women at this hotel/villa. It looked like an “overweight Weightwatchers convention”. But Ming made up for it wearing her tight bikini, everywhere she went.
It’s amazing that this girl really lets her hair down when she is outside of her environment (Bangkok). We went out one night. It seems that the only action (something we were not looking for) is at the Hilton.
Also took in a magic show there – quite entertaining; if you are into that stuff.
I had not been to Hua Hin for many years. My overall impression is as follows: Nice hotels, very clean, very quiet, romantic, and the opposite of Pattaya.

One more thing please!
The Hyatt regency Hua Hin also has a SPA called the "BARAI" it is first class (unfortunately quite expensive). But for that special vacation or rest, it is one of the nicest spas I have ever seen. In fact it is next door to the world famous CHIVAS SOM
